Overview

In keeping with the vision statement of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, the Administrative Ministry provides the vital link between organizational and operational functions of the Wesley congregation, the pastors and staff, and the community at large.



Skill Requirements


Education


High School graduate minimum; some college preferred


Previous experience in office management


Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment


Computer experience required, with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Membership and Intuit QuickBooks programs


Good verbal and written communications


Working knowledge of United Methodism and willingness to work within its particular and unique denominational boundaries



Reporting Responsibilities

  • Reports and is responsible to Senior Pastor
  • Relates to Church Council, Finance Committee, Audit Committee, Board of Trustees, Church Treasurer and Staff/Pastor-Parish Relations Committee
  • Staff Parish Liaison for accomplishments and concerns


Organization and Administration Responsibilities

  • Attends called staff other designated ministry area meetings when requested
  • Establishes and implements a standard of operation for financial and membership reporting
  • Assists with annual stewardship campaign and general church fund raising activities
  • Administers the church operational budget, to include all payroll functions
  • Develops, provides and oversees:
  • Monthly financial statements
  • Monthly contributions statements
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual tax and legal requirements
  • Annual report requirements to the Holston UMC Annual Conference
  • Annual Charge Conference Report for the Three Rivers District (UMC)
  • Daily/weekly disbursements preparation, postings and subsequent accounting
  • Daily/weekly deposit preparation, postings and subsequent accounting
  • Maintains electronic membership lists and files
  • Maintains general church and all personnel files
  • Serves as liaison for financial institutions
