ABOUT BRAVE CHURCH

Brave Church is a multigenerational church of around 750 people, that has a heart for discipleship through community and relationship. Our mission is Leading People to Love People. Planted in beautiful Miami, FL, the church currently gathers at its two locations and online every Sunday.

Its main location is located in the Westchester neighborhood and its second location meets in the thriving neighborhood of Brickell. We strive to have all that we do point people to Jesus and to live and love the way Jesus does.

THREE ROLES OF THE LEAD PASTOR

Preaching Ministry

Our Lead Pastor needs to be a preacher and student of the Word of God, supporting healthy discussions of Scripture that encourage unity in the body of Christ. The lead pastor will be responsible for directing the Sunday worship services.

Pastoral Ministry

Our Lead Pastor needs to develop a caring, shepherding relationship with the congregation. The Lead Pastor needs to encourage and lead in the discipline of prayer. Expertise and experience will be required to provide short-term counseling in cooperation with the staff and Dream Team. Concern for people will be essential to provide congregational care and visitation in cooperation with the Board of Directors. The Lead Pastor will be available to officiate at weddings, funerals, baptisms and child dedications.

Ministry & Leadership Development

Our Lead Pastor is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of ministry work and staff in collaboration with the Executive Pastor, providing spiritual insight to ensure ministries are consistent with scripture, and implementing and guiding the church’s mission, vision and strategy. The Lead Pastor needs to mentor and support volunteers, identify and disciple leaders, and prepare and encourage God’s people to become mature in Christ.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of the Lead Pastor at Brave Church will include, but are not limited to:

PREACHING AND TEACHING MINISTRY

• “Preach the Word, correct, rebuke and encourage with great patience and careful instruction” 2 Timothy 4:2. Primary preaching voice for Sunday services.
• Hold a high view of all of the scriptures, “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for...” 2 Timothy 3:16, encouraging and exhorting the congregation of its efficacy in all areas of life and faith using all of the scriptures given to us. “An approved workman....who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:23
• Oversee and plan Sunday morning services in collaboration with the Experience Staff, including any special events in the church calendar.

PASTORAL MINISTRY

• Develop a caring and shepherding relationship with the congregation.
• Work with the Board of Directors to provide congregation care and visitation to ensure the development of a supportive community at Brave Church.
• Encourage and lead in the discipline of prayer both corporately and individually.
• Provide short-term counseling in cooperation with Staff and Dream Team.
• Officiate at significant life moments of the congregation such as weddings, funerals, baptisms, and child dedications.
• Represent the church in community outreach programs, charitable events, and other activities that promote the church’s mission.
• Leading the church in collaboration with the Board of Directors and Kingdom Builders.

MINISTRY & LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

• Oversee all staff and ministry work, providing guidance in keeping ministries to biblical principles and fostering a community of respect in collaboration with the Executive Pastor.
• Implement and guide the church’s mission, vision, and strategy.
• Identify new leaders and provide intentional mentorship and support to volunteers to effectively “prepare God’s people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up...and become mature attaining the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11
• Guide Brave Church in ministry direction and re-organization as we reassess community, ministry, and congregational needs.
• Maintaining relationships with other faith leaders and community organizations locally and globally to support the church’s mission.

• An ever-deepening and maturing love for Jesus and His Church.
• Encourage unity in staff, teams, and church.
• Foster healthy discussions of Scripture.
• Guide the church in implementing the vision to reach our community with the love of Jesus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• *Assemblies of God Credentials required. (Licensed or Ordained Minister.)
• *Bachelor’s Degree or higher required.
• *5-7 years of pastoral ministry experience required. (Kids, youth, young adults, or similar pastoral ministry.)
• A gifted communicator that builds up the body of Christ.
• Strives to meet the qualifications of a leader as found in 1 & 2 Timothy and Titus.
• Collaborative Leadership.
• Prior experience as a lead pastor is preferred.
• Successful candidates must be in agreement with and abide by the bylaws of the Assemblies of God and Brave Church.
• Experience in managing a church budget in a sound and fiscally responsible manner.

COMPENSATION

Our salary and benefits package will be negotiated during the interview process.

BRAVE CHURCH AT A GLANCE

Brave Church is located in 2 different neighborhoods in our city with our main location in Westchester and our newest location in Brickell. Although only a few miles away, these two neighborhoods are very different in just about every way. Westchester is known for families, FIU students, and home to those who have deep roots in Miami. Brickell is filled with young professionals and those who have traveled from other countries or states for work, school, or to start fresh.

We have a large reach to surrounding counties and neighborhoods with some congregates traveling over an hour and a half for a Sunday service. Over 750 people attend consistently and even more consider Brave to be their home church. Average Sunday attendance at our Westchester Location is about 600 people at our two services and about 110 at our Brickell Location for its one service. Our online attendance averages around 75 people from all over the world.
