First Baptist Church (FBC) of College Station, Texas, is seeking its next College Minister. FBC is an established and vibrant church family seated in the heart of Aggieland poised to grow and engage the college community of over 70,000 college students with the gospel through a variety of ministries with a focus on relationships. Our ideal candidate would have a minimum of an undergraduate degree, and a minimum of 5 years of full-time ministry leadership experience is necessary for success in this role. In addition to an undergraduate degree, a graduate or seminary degree is preferred. The candidate should teach, train, and relate with college students, while integrating college ministry in the whole life of the church. Additionally, the candidate should be able to identify and develop student leadership to assist with ongoing and potential ministry. Position Summary:
The College Minister is responsible for ensuring all aspects of spiritual growth and development of college-aged students who attend First Baptist Church College Station. This includes leadership for all programming, teaching, events, and management in support of the overall vision, mission, and purpose of First Baptist Church College Station, to include discipleship, outreach, evangelism and recreation.
Essential Duties:
Percentage of Time 45%
1. Preaching/Teaching:
- Leads the College members to grow in Christ through regular Bible studies and spiritual development times. This includes teaching and/or administering College Group (Sunday school) and small group programs.
- Plans and executes biblically accurate, culturally relevant teaching.
Percentage of Time 40%
2. Ministry Specific Pastoral, Activities, and Events:
- Develops and oversees opportunities for members to be directly involved in missions and ministries both local and outside of our community.
- Expands the College ministry through outreach, fellowship, and ministry to students; and then through them to the community.
- Continues to enhance College members’ involvement and integration in the ministries of the church.
- Coordinates training, development opportunities while mentoring new and current workers/ leaders in College ministry.
- Keeps informed and familiar with ongoing and special events of the church.
Percentage of Time 10%
3. Overseeing Administrative Functions:
- Creates and plans a calendar that will encompass all of the programming needs of the ministry to fulfill all goals and outreach.
- Develops and presents a recommended budget for the accountable ministries to the Budget and Finance committee.
- Manages ministry expenses according to the approved church budget.
- Oversees development and planning of a broad range of service, recreational, and social opportunities to promote community within the group and within the church.
- Networks and partners with other local college ministries to broaden opportunities for service, growth, and outreach.
- Acts as Liaison from church staff to College ministry.

4. Miscellaneous Duties:

Required Qualifications:
- College graduate or equivalent work-related experience.
- Minimum 5 years ministry experience.
- Adheres to church bylaws, policies, and procedures.
- Exercises initiative and judgment in responding to problems or complaints promptly, courteously, or, if unable or unqualified to assist, promptly refers to the appropriate party.
- Cooperates with church staff and volunteers.
- Able to work well with others in a team setting and adapt to new circumstances as they arise.
- Willing to work College and Church wide special events.
- Be conscious of the need for confidentiality; uses discernment and wise judgement.
- Attention to detail and organization.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively.
- Able to teach, train, relate, and communicate with college students.
- Willing to seek information, training and resources as needed.
- Competent with various forms of computer software and applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters of Divinity.
- College ministry leadership experience.
