Job Description

Calvary Bible Church is a rural church in southern Maine looking to add to our pastoral staff with a full or part-time member.  We are an independent, non-denominational church governed by an pastor/elder board.

Qualifications:

An ideal candidate will have a heart for children, teens, young adults and families, willing to find creative and practical ways to reach out to them with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and then to disciple in the faith as a member of the elder board. As members grow in the faith, it is our goal to help them serve God with their gifts by serving others in ministries of various kinds.

While a participant in the elder board the candidate needs to be ready to assume full leadership responsibilities. You should have at a minimum, a degree from bible college or seminary. Teaching and preaching should be done with an emphasis on an expository approach and a firm basis in Biblical hermeneutics.

Our church is located in the Sacopee Valley area of southwestern Maine.  This is a rural community of approximate population of 8,000.  Mostly older folks with a few young families.

Compensation

This is an area of negotiation based on the candidate needs and experience.  Possible bi-vocational approach if experience needs to be developed.

Purpose of the Church

The purpose of this church is to teach the whole Word of God and to maintain a biblical faith and holiness among its members. It shall also seek to bring seekers to God for reconciliation; and by teaching purity and holiness through a daily dying to self and a life lived by faith in Jesus Christ, to prepare a people for the glorious appearing of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This will be accomplished by emphasis on evangelism, discipleship, fellowship and service.

Confession of Faith

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior from sin and death, and in the Holy Spirit, our ever-present Sanctifier, Comforter, and Guide. We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the revealed will of God to mankind and are alone able to make us wise unto salvation. We believe the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ and His Apostles are a full and sufficient statement of the duties and faith of the church. We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, that He was buried, and that He arose from the dead the third day, according to the Scriptures, as the first fruits of those that slept; that He ascended bodily from the earth to heaven, where He sits at the right hand of God the Father, to make intercession for us. From there He shall come again personally in the clouds of heaven to rapture the church. Then after a period of seven years, return with His saints to reign for 1,000 years upon this earth. At the end of this reign, the wicked dead shall be raised and judged. Then the heavens and earth shall be burned up and a new heaven and earth will be created, which shall be His ever-lasting kingdom. We believe that the declarations of Jesus Christ and His Apostles, as found in the New Testament, are sufficient statement of the future inheritance of the saved and punishment of the unsaved as recorded in Matthew 5:5, 25:46; Rom. 6:23; Rev. 20:15.
