JOB DESCRIPTION – Musician

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• A disciple of Jesus Christ, committed to growing in faith
• Experience in church worship, team player and good communication and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of basic music theory, ability to read music and the ability to teach musical skills (transitions, harmonizations etc.)
• Willingness to rehearse sufficiently to maintain a high quality of music
• Ability to take direction and work together as a team member
• Knowledge of the instrument and oversight for care of church musical equipment.
• Sensitivity and the ability to interact with a variety of people.
• Ability to communicate well and in a friendly manner with the church leadership, church choir, and members of the congregation.
• Ability to assist the Minister of Music in selecting and arranging appropriate music for worship services.

Principle function - The Church Musician is willing to fulfill the mission of First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church , by providing piano accompaniment for scheduled worship services and other activities in support of the music ministry of the church.

Accountability – This individual is a strong team player, working under the direction of the Lead Pastor. He will keep the Lead Pastor, and the Minister of Music  informed (in advance) of  future absences and changes related to attendance.

Key Musician Job Responsibilities/Duties

• Lead and assist the Inspirational choir(ages up to 20). This includes weekly practice on Thursdays at 6pm.
• To accompany the Mission choir once a month and participate/assist in practice.
• To accompany the Pastor for all sanctioned worship services at home and away.
• To accompany the Voices of Corinthian (VOC) each Sunday
• To attend VOC  choir practices Thursdays at 7pm, support and teach vocal skills
• To provide music at funerals the Minister of Music cannot attend 

Salary

Negotiable, consistent with candidate’s education, experience and skill level.
