Children's Ministry Director

The person in this position will direct the activities for the children in Morganton First Church of God. Examples of expectations include managing the after-school program (CIA or Children in Action) and the children’s program (Adventure Kids).

Work hours:

Times for work hours are flexible but 40 hours per week

Duties and Responsibilities required:

• Administration of the children’s activities including the after-school program (CIA or Children in Action) and children’s church program (Adventure Kids), and Sunday School organization in a manner that flows with the vision of the church. This includes selection of curriculum and preparation of lessons/ activities for programs

• Mentoring of children, volunteers, employees

• Weekly set up of materials for programs

• Hiring employees for CIA and conducting their evaluation

• Scheduling: Weekly nursery, Sunday School, Adventure Kids volunteers/ workers for CIA and scheduling of replacements as needed when volunteers or employees are unable to serve

• Update annually procedures for the safety of children in programs

• Organize volunteer appreciation

• Organize and lead training of volunteers (M1COG Safety Protocols) and employees annually

• Coordinate parenting opportunities such as classes, one day events, annual Family Event, etc.

• Be a steward of the church grounds and facility, for safety and upkeep

• Other activities/ programming related to children in the church as appropriate

Recommended

• Experience in Daycare operation/administration

• Grant-writing for programs as appropriate

Education and experience required

• Christian with doctrinal belief consistent with M1Cog, pass a background check

• High school diploma or higher, preferred bachelor’s degree in children’s education

• Early childhood education training

• At least 2 years of experience teaching children

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, children’s materials, safety protocols

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, positive attitude

Salary: This is a salaried position with compensation $ 38,000 - $43,000 annually
