Job Description

St. Matthew’s is a community of disciples of Jesus Christ. We welcome all people to share with us in the way of love, and we offer formation for Christians of all ages and levels of learning. To assist us in this work, we are currently seeking a part-time Children & Youth Ministry Leader. The successful candidate will work with other leaders to plan, coordinate, and lead Church School, Youth Groups, and special events for our youngest and younger members. Compensation is $30/hour, for 10-20 hours a week, paid bi-monthly, with no additional benefits. This position reports to the Rector.


We seek someone who will share their love for Jesus and the good news of the Gospel with our children, youth, and with our whole community. Candidates should have relevant training andexperience in children’s and/or youth ministry, familiarity with Episcopal tradition, and be self- starters.


One aspect of our life that sets St. Matthew’s apart is our partnership with Wilton Presbyterian Church (WPC). We share many pieces of our life and ministry together, especially the formation of our children and youth. The successful candidate will be able to work with the Rector and a partner in ministry from WPC collaboratively and professionally to help us grow meaningful programs together.


Regular Responsibilities:

• Work with colleagues to plan and lead Church School during the 10am worship service each Sunday from September-May

• Work with colleagues to plan and lead middle and high school youth events from September-May • Work with the Rector to prepare and lead a Confirmation class each year

• Lead volunteers and work together to put on events like the annual Christmas Pageant

• Communicate with rector, staff, vestry, and parents about needs of children

• Track attendance, seek new ways to interact with & invite community in

• Build relationships with children, youth, families, and wider community

• Communicating appropriately and professionally with children, parents, and staff • Meet Safe Church Guidelines

• Meeting twice a month with staff/Rector


Qualifications

• Relevant experience with references

• Knowledge of the Episcopal Church and our tradition preferred

• Clear background, public records, and reference checks

• Safe Church trained by the Episcopal Church in Connecticut (provided after hire) • Anti-racism training (provided after hire)
