New Creation Church is a dynamic, Congregationally Lead, multi-cultural, multigenerational church that connects real life to a real message of faith and has several active ministries. New Creation Church is currently a church with an average attendance of 300 people from San Diego, California, and surrounding areas. The location of the church is in the City Heights area of San Diego, populated by a middle, lower middle-, and working-class, multiracial population. ABOUT THE SENIOR PASTOR POSITION: New Creation Church is seeking a Senior Pastor who loves God and loves others. This individual will be passionate about building up the community, equipping believers, and proclaiming the Word in the Church and beyond. The Senior Pastor will develop specific strategies to accomplish our Mission and to build God’s Kingdom. The new Senior Pastor will be a visionary who is both a “big picture” and “detail oriented” thinker. Decisions shall be driven by the love of God and by the Holy Spirit. The Senior Pastor is a person who is energized by working with others and open to new approaches aimed at achieving a goal. This person can build collaborative relationships and work well with Leadership and Partners. In your role as Spiritual Leader, you will build a strong team, and together you will lead the ministry to achieve the Mission of New Creation Church: This position will facilitate building unity that aligns with the church’s vision, achieving consensus through reason and implementing actions toward predetermined goals. Be a gifted speaker and teacher of the Word who articulates Biblical truth clearly, in a dynamic manner. Possess the ability to present the Gospel message to non- and new-believers, as well as preaching the Scriptures in an exegetical manner to more mature Christians. Be affective in teaching small groups or in large settings. Be a people-oriented leader who can clearly hold self and others accountable. You will report directly to the New Creation Church Board of Directors. QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Hold an undergraduate degree in Biblical, Theological or Christian Ministry from an accredited university / college. Be an ordained minister with a solid Biblical / theological foundation, and successful experience serving a culturally/racially diverse congregation. Have a minimum of 10 years of pastoral and teaching experience in a multi-staff church setting. Embrace the New Creation Church Statement of Faith. Possesses strong interpersonal skills, be teamwork-oriented, and can lead others from diverse backgrounds in a church setting. Have strong computer, writing, and presentation skills. RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as Spiritual Leader of the Church and is the primary communicator of God’s Word, as well as being responsible for the overall direction and organization of worship services. • Inspire, challenge and nurture Members’ faith journeys towards a richer and deeper understanding of living in response to God’s love. Provide Spirit-led opportunities for evangelism and outreach. Provide pastoral counsel to those who seek spiritual guidance. Make hospital and home-bound visitations and provide Pastoral care. Officiate at weddings, funerals, and baptisms. Oversee the administration of communion. Be available for alliances with local ministries. Ensures the Mission of New Creation Church is integrated into Church Life and encourages all to be involved in Mission activities and Community Services. LEADERSHIP DUTIES OF SENIOR PASTOR: Provide unifying vision and leadership to New Creation Church of San Diego, CA. Motivate and train the Church to identify and utilize their spiritual giftedness. Keep in regular communication with the congregation through church publications, emails, and other media forms. Work with the leadership teams to organize and oversee the implementation of ministry objectives. Oversees regularly scheduled pastoral and administrative staff teams. Supervises the pastoral, ministerial, and administrative staff and assist with annual reviews. ACCOUNTABILITY: The Senior Pastor is accountable to God, the Executive Board, and the Congregation for his/her pastoral ministry, personal integrity, and spiritual maturity.
