Part-time Worship Leader

Position Description:

This position is appropriate for a lay person or a college student who can work with traditional music and hymns. The worship leader should be a skilled vocalist with a heart to serve and worship our Lord. The worship leader works under the direction and in partnership with the Pastor.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Most important, must be a Christian and committed to an ongoing, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and actively pursuing being like Christ in every area of life.

• Must follow all guidelines/policies set forth by the church.

• Have a desire to lead worship in a church setting and be focused on teaching and encouraging worship within the church.

• Exhibit humility and a teachable spirit, as appropriate for a leader.

• Select appropriate music, encourage singing and music, engage with and build a choir, manage a pianist or instrumentalist, and create worship services with the pastor.

• Understand or be willing to learn a worship service application, such as EasyWorship.

• Pass a criminal, financial, and sexual misconduct background check.

• Work with a range of people types and communicate sensitively with others.

• Listen effectively and to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

• Play the piano or guitar, preferably.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead the congregational worship during Sunday morning service.

• Work with the Pastor in planning worship services and special events.

• Work with available vocalists and instrumentalists through preparation and rehearsals.

• Maintain the church music library and inventory of musical instruments, equipment, and other required supplies.

• Coordinate with the worship tech ministry to ensure song lyrics, microphones, worship displays, videos, and other worship elements are in place and working properly.

• Attend staff meetings, business meetings, and other events as available and as requested by the pastor.

Russellville Baptist Church is a small, historic church with rich history, located in the heart of the Middle Georgia countryside. We are a 20-minute drive from Macon, Forsyth, Barnesville and Interstate 75. We are a Bible-based and Gospel-centered congregation.
