The mission above is not one person’s job on staff at Gateway, it is every person’s job. Every employee will assume responsibility to execute the mission as an individual. In fact, the highest priority and expectation of every Gateway employee is to do this mission in a personal way. To help people explore God (through invitation and volunteer recruitment) and become a unified community (through team building and spiritual care) of growing, multiplying (through deeper spiritual investment and training), Christ-followers.


Summary

We are seeking driven, hard-working, and teachable individuals that are passionate about learning and eager to explore their calling into ministry. Over the course of nine months (September- May), Gateway Residents will be equipped, empowered, and coached to serve and lead in the church. 

You will gain valuable life-changing training, and hands-on direct ministry experience in leadership and discipleship from seasoned leaders.

The ministry area in which a Gateway Resident will serve will be based on a lot of factors including: an individual’s experience, chemistry on a team, leadership availability, and lots of prayer.


Primary Functions

  • Discover and develop leadership style, understand and practice gifts, and learn other valuable tools through leadership development and mentor meetings
  • Learn to develop and disciple others
  • Learn, develop, and ultimately lead projects or area(s) within a ministry under the coaching and guidance of a ministry mentor
  • Commit to Gateway’s mission, vision, and staff culture


Outcomes and Expectations of the Program

Program Outcomes

  • Achieve leadership skills that are applicable both in ministry and secular career opportunities
  • Gain individual experience of the different aspects of ministry
  • Obtain direct hands on experience while being mentored in ministry area(s) and leadership role(s)
  • Experience individual transformative growth


Program Expectations

  • Fulfill Residency role as stated in the job description
  • Commit to completing the 9- month Residency program
  • Show up with a willingness to learn and a posture of humility and integrity
  • Ability to be flexible with schedule
  • Willingness to travel between campuses
  • Residents will be expected to work 40+ hours per week and will be required to raise support
  •   for a portion of their salary


Spiritual Development

  • Each Resident will be assigned a 1 on 1 mentor
  • All Residents will be a part of a family group together
  • All Residents will attend a Resident Retreat
  • All Residents will receive a biblical foundation by learning Scripture as:
  • God’s Word
  • Narrative of God and His people
  • Tool for Personal Growth
  • Tool for Ministering

 

Leadership Development

  • Learn and experience what it means to be a servant leader
  • Skills Learning how to
  • Lead a Team
  • Create and implement vision
  • Create buy in
  • Learn and experience the skills to be an adaptive leader

 

Ministry Development

Learn and experience in fast-paced ministry and ministry support areas. Areas “may” include

  • Creative Arts:  Worship, music, and production at a campus level
  • Creative Media: Marketing & Communication, film, and social media across campuses
  • Kids: Birth- Elementary aged kids
  • Students: Middle school & high school students
  • Mobilization: Local and Global Serve


Desired Qualifications

  • Teachable and humble spirit 
  • Clear calling to explore vocational ministry
  • Some volunteer or leadership experience in a church
  • Ability to thrive in a fast- paced environment


Spiritual Criteria

  • Must have an intimate and growing relationship with Christ
  • Must make Gateway church your church home
  • Must become a commissioned leader at Gateway Church (or be willing to if not currently
  •   commissioned)
  • Model standards and expectations of commissioned leaders at Gateway Church


Working Conditions and other information

  • Sunday through Thursday schedule (Saturdays as needed) with added responsibilities for holidays and
  •   special events as assigned
  • Easter and Christmas - all hands- on deck for our services and even
  • Annual All Staff Retreat- dates are subject to change but typically fall sometime in May
  • Attend all functions that we require of our Commissioned Core (i.e. Leadership Community, etc.)
