SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
The Youth Pastor, answering a call to the ministry from God, is responsible for leading and nurturing
the spiritual growth of the Greencastle Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church ("OUB church") youth (grades 7-12). While the primary focus is youth, the expectation is a commitment to all ages and a senseof loyalty to the entire OUB family, typical of any church member. This role includes developing and overseeing youth programs, fostering a safe community, and guiding youth in their faith journey. The Youth Pastor wil work closely with church leadership, which includes the Pastor, Administrative Board, Youth Commission, parents, and volunteers to create an engaging, Christ- centered environment for young people. The Youth Pastor will demonstrate a personal commitment to Christ, living in accordance with the Word of God.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's degree ni ministry, theology, or a related field preferred.
• Agreement with the United Brethren's doctrinal beliefs and theological stance.
• Holder of a current and valid United Brethren ministerial license or willingness to obtain appropriate United Brethren licensure within two (2) years of start date.
Current member, or willingness to become a member during the first available opportunity, of the OUB church.
• Minimum of three (3) years of youth ministry experience preferred.
• Candidate must possess superior communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work
effectively with the Senior Pastor, OUB Administrative Board, Youth Commission, congregation members, community members, parents, and students.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have a safe driving record.
Greencastle Otterbein UB Church in Greencastle, PA is a congregation located in Franklin County in south-central PA. The town of Greencastle itself has a population of 4,000+ and a population of nearly 16,000 in the surrounding Antrim township with an ever growing student enrollment in the local school district. We are looking for a Youth Pastor who will be responsible for leading and nurturing the spiritual growth of the OUB Church youth (grades 7-12). This role includes developing and overseeing youth programs, fostering a safe community, and guiding youth in their faith journey.
Our next Youth Pastor will be an effective communicator who shares the gospel as the unerring Word of God and possesses a heart for youth and the challenges they face today. The ability to encourage young people, to demonstrate a personal commitment to Christ, to work closely with the Senior Pastor, Youth Commission, volunteers and parents is essential. Also essential will be the ability to plan, coordinate, and lead the OUB Church Youth program (including but not limited to: mid-week youth activities, social events, Sunday school, retreats, conferences, VBS, etc.) that will include outreach and mission trips. It is also expected that this individual will maintain professional ministerial credentials with the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, USA and subscribe to its doctrinal values.
Otterbein UB Church is a church family of about 250 people, built on faith and led by the Holy Spirit to worship and to be witnesses of our Lord Jesus Christ. There are as many as 25+ students in various parts of the program along with many adult volunteers. Our staff includes the Senior Pastor and part-time administrative staff.
