Position Objective: The Discipleship Pastor embodies the vision and values of Radiant Bible Church (RBC) with the goal of pointing our church family and community to a passionate pursuit of the radiant God as we worship Christ, walk with Christ and work for Christ.

Position Summary: In pursuit of the mission and vision of Radiant, the Discipleship Pastor oversees the comprehensive discipleship effort of RBC by leading Radiant Groups and adult discipleship efforts (i.e. classes, conferences, studies, etc.) while also collaborating with and advising other RBC ministry areas and leaders in their areas of discipleship. He faithfully loves, models and proclaims Jesus Christ and the Word of God to the church and community.

SPIRITUAL AND CHARACTER QUALIFICATIONS

The Discipleship Pastor must:

• Have a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a passionate, growing, personal

relationship with Him.

• Meet the biblical qualifications of an elder (1 Timothy 3:1–13; Titus 1:6–9).

• Demonstrate spiritual maturity, be committed to the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit and desire Christlikeness in personal character.

• Be fully committed to the doctrine, vision and ministry of RBC.

• Be teachable and willing to be held accountable.

• Lead with a humble spirit, God-dependent faith and a servant’s heart.

• Embody a spirit of teamwork and collaboration.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree strongly preferred

• 10 years or more of pastoral ministry

• Extensive experience in adult discipleship or adult small group ministry within a large church context

NECESSARY SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Passion and love for people and their relationships with Jesus

• Ability to implement strategy through planning and execution

• Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

• Demonstrated ability to teach and preach God’s Word

• Strong ability to winsomely and clearly communicate in various settings

• Proven leader of leaders who works to implement a culture of care, accountability, transparency and servant leadership across the RBC family

• Discipleship-minded with experience in caring for and developing leaders

• Strong administration and organizational skills

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Discipleship Pastor will:

• Faithfully shepherd, love and model Jesus Christ at RBC.

• Develop, lead, implement and evaluate discipleship at Radiant under the oversight of the Senior Leadership Team.

• Oversee organization, planning and shepherding of adult discipleship efforts including but not limited to Radiant Groups, Bible studies and core classes.

• Collaborate with the Lead Pastor as requested on discipleship content and curriculum.

• Collaborate with Radiant Kids, Radiant Students and other ministry leaders to achieve a cohesive, comprehensive discipleship effort (i.e. curriculum review and/or development, core content and beliefs, content alignment from birth through adults).

• Identify, equip and care for leaders while fostering a culture of leadership development.

• Preach and teach as required for the discipleship ministry and occasionally during weekend worship gatherings.

• Actively participate and contribute as a willing team member to furthering the vision and mission of RBC alongside the Radiant staff.
