First Denton Technical Director Job Description
The Technical Director’s core responsibility will be to oversee technology and provide servant leadership associated with the production of ministry and worship events. By fulfilling this responsibility, the Technical Director will support the mission and vision of First Denton.
Reports to: Worship Pastor
Supervises: Production Assistant, production contractors
Job Type: Full-time salaried position (40+ hours/week)
The applicant must be willing to work evenings and holidays to ensure event and rehearsal needs are covered. All hours take place at First Denton, excepting meetings with a vendor or volunteer as approved by the Worship Pastor.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent field experience
- 2+ years of experience in AVL Production
- (Preferred) at least one year of experience in ministry
- (Preferred) familiarity with Pro Tools, MultiTracks, Playback, ProPresenter, Planning Center, and any other relevant software or systems
Job Functions (including, but not limited to):
- Oversee all details associated with the live production of weekend services and other church events (audio, lighting, projection, live-streaming, etc.)
- Oversee live production teams:
- Train volunteers in the use of AVL technology.
- Encourage your team to develop and use their skills to glorify God.
- Communicate effectively with volunteers, contractors, and the Production Assistant regarding any special production elements for a given event.
- Using Planning Center Services, ensure production teams are staffed for upcoming events. Aim to have teams scheduled 4 to 8 weeks in advance for all events.
- Ensure all AVL systems are maintained, up-to date, inventoried, and in proper working order for volunteer operation.
- Serve as the point-person for Sunday morning tech-related questions, problem-solving, or adjustments.
- Ensure the fulfillment of any technology/production needs which are delegated to the Production Assistant or contractors. This includes Overflow, and any other events which are delegated to others.
- Ensure production needs are met for funerals and weddings held on campus. These events may be delegated to contractors, but the Technical Director is ultimately responsible for the smooth production of these events.
- Provide technology support for WEBS on Wednesday mornings.
- Meet with ministry leaders to provide support and advice regarding production needs for upcoming events/programs.
- Provide ongoing training and support for staff members in other ministry areas as needed.
- Develop an annual AVL expense budget under the direction of the Worship Pastor.
