Job Description

Principle Function:


The Youth Pastor is responsible to Boones Chapel Baptist Church, Prattville, AL to plan, direct, and oversee activities related to Middle School and High School ministries. The Youth Pastor will be prepared to engage in pastoral care in meeting the needs of persons of the church and community, and to manage all paid employees, interns, and volunteers supporting Middle School and High School ministries. The Youth Pastor is a spiritual leader and must be an example of faith in action whose personal life, family relationships, and public life should be beyond reproach.


Supervised by Senior Pastor

Supervises – Responsible for the management of all key leaders within the youth ministry.


Qualifications:


A professing Christian called of God to serve the church in pastoral care, who adheres to the doctrinal and theological beliefs of Boones Chapel Baptist Church, supports the vision and leadership of the Senior Pastor, and is continuing to mature in their faith in Jesus Christ.


Meets the Biblical qualifications for pastor as set forth in God’s Word.


Well-grounded and equipped for service through academic training, doctrinal stability, and total commitment to Jesus Christ.


Is obedient unto God’s command concerning the tithe and offerings.


Is supportive of and totally committed to Southern Baptist doctrines, practices and ministries including the Cooperative Program.


If married, wife is a dedicated Christian fully supportive of her husband’s ministry.


Good leadership, organizational, communication, and people skills; able to coordinate, supervise, and work well with volunteers as well as church employees; outgoing, friendly, self-motivated personality.


Must refrain from the consumption of alcohol and/or tobacco products.


Education – Seminary or other bachelor's degree highly preferred.


Must possess a passion and desire to train and equip the saints for the work of ministry.


Basic computer skills; word processing and email.


Work Schedule (Full-Time):


A regularly scheduled work week extends Sunday and Wednesday during regularly scheduled education and worship times; Monday - Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Fridays as assigned. Additional time may be required to appropriately perform the duties related to this ministry position (i.e., spiritual needs, emergency needs, meetings, revivals, conferences, etc.).


Job Duties:


  1. Maintain an elevated level of spiritual influence and testimony.
  2.  Prepare and deliver Biblically based sermons and/or series at all youth services; which includes preaching or arranging for someone else to perform this function; serves as spiritual leader and overseer of the youth.
  3. Lead in planning and conducting small group studies for youth. Ensures all training is Biblically based and effective for spiritual growth of members and visitors.
  4. Lead in planning and conducting a Summer and assist in planning Winter Conference for youth. Ensures all training is Biblically based and effective for spiritual growth of members and visitors.
  5. Counsel with students for salvation and baptism as well as provide Biblical advice and guidance to them and other ministry participants as appropriate.
  6. Supervise planning of curricular and extracurricular ministry activities; to include reviewing course materials, as well as planning and setting class schedules.
  7. Attend student’s school functions as much as possible and/or directed.
  8. Provide leadership, motivation, training, and supervision to key leaders within the youth ministry.
  9. Promote a regular ministry of outreach to high school and middle school students, in cooperation with the church’s overall plan of outreach.
  10. Assist in the development and promotion of a successful Sunday School ministry, to include enlisting, training, and retaining Sunday School teachers and other key leaders.
  11. Work diligently to ensure the absolute safety of all those who participate in ministry related activities and events.
  12. Work with other leaders in the church to provide appropriate activities and training for parents; developing ministry activities designed to promote a pro-family agenda and strengthen fellowship.
  13. Compile, review, and submit reports as necessary to track, contact, follow-up, and effectively minister to students.
  14. Prepare annual budget requests, as well as manage approved budgets responsibly, adhering to the purchasing guidelines as established
  15. Keep office and other work areas neatly maintained to include monitoring and/or inspecting rooms following ministry related use, ensuring that church facilities are appropriately cleaned and maintained.
  16. Write/submit newsletter articles pertaining to the related ministry areas as required.
  17. Attend professional development conferences and workshops as needed or assigned.
  18. Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.


Salary & Benefits:


Salary is negotiable commensurate with job knowledge and experience. Benefits are granted as outlined in the church’s Personnel Manual.
