Director of Youth, Children, and Families

First Christian Church of Shelbyville Indiana is currently accepting applications for the Director of Youth, Children, and Families position. This is a full-time opportunity for someone interested in serving in the faith formation of our congregation’s youth, children, and their families. Though this is a non-called position, both those who are ordained and not ordained are welcome to apply. First Christian Church is a Disciples of Christ congregation located in south, central Indiana within 40 minutes of downtown Indianapolis. We are a long-standing downtown church with a growing youth and children’s ministry. We are looking to bring on a candidate who is passionate about faith formation, religious education, and participating in the lives of our church families. First Christian Church is a long-standing Disciples of Christ congregation in central Indiana. We have one Sunday service at 10 AM weekly along with programming throughout the week. FCC was founded in our current location in 1901 and has been a staple in the Shelbyville community for over a hundred years. Many of our congregants have grown up in the church, been married in the church, and raised their own families at FCC. We are growing week by week and have been seeing an increase in attendance on Sundays. This has also increased in our youth and children's presence. We are a part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination and follow the theology of the American Restorationist movement. FCC is considered to be a mainline Protestant church with weekly communion, preaching, and music. Sundays are pretty relaxed with casual dress, friendly faces, and good conversation. We hope to share the love of Jesus with those who need to hear a bit of Good News!
