Christ Church is seeking a newly ordained (or soon-to-be ordained) person to join our staff in the summer of 2025 and spend the first two to three years of ordained ministry in a position

expressly designed to offer formation and mentoring in all aspects of parish ministry.

Our next Assistant Rector will

• Share preaching and worship leadership, including funerals and weddings, and other occasions.

• Take a leadership role in coordinating our pastoral care ministry team of lay and ordained staff.

• Serve as the staff liaison for our Mission Outreach Team (including those with local nonprofits and our international partnerships, including the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti.

• Partner with senior staff in areas such as adult formation, digital evangelism, children’s youth ministries, music, and parish administration.

Starting salary is $75,000 ($69,670 salary/housing + $5,330 SECA reimbursement).

Christ Church is an intergenerational, suburban church in Glen Allen, Virginia. Founded in 1993 as a mission of the Diocese of Virginia, Christ Church seeks to live the Way of Love as an

engaged community of young families, longtime parishioners, and retirees serving as the hands and heart of Christ in the world. Our average Sunday attendance is 375-450 and growing rapidly.

Our staff consists of nine full and part-time employees. Our annual budget ($1.4 million) has shown strong growth in recent years.

Success in ministry at Christ Church requires a sense of joy in working with people of all ages, and a spirit of collaboration. Strong writing skills are essential, as are openness to learning,
