Job Description Position Type: Full-time, seasonal5 weeks at the beginning of summer (June 7-July 10)4 weeks at the end of summer (July 12-Aug 7)Full summer (June 7-Aug 7)Supervision: Clinic ManagerJob Summary: Many of the campers that we service at Camp Blessing Texas are medically fragile, and/or have other medical needs that require attendance throughout camp. Our campers wouldn’t be able to participate in camp without the care that the Med Shed Staff provides. Each week candidates would assist in training the volunteer nurses, physicians, and EMTs on Camp Blessing’s medication distribution system, check in protocols, and administration of medication protocols. Miscellaneous health care of participants will also be taken care of by Clinic Staff, such as tending to scraped knees and rotating being on-call.Job Duties:Medication management/distributionTake shifts being on-callTrain new volunteers on Camp Blessing’s clinical management protocolsBe eager to learn more medical information from the volunteersRun Med Shed check-inReceives, screens, assesses, and provides care to campers and other camp personnelTakes and records vital signs, as appropriate to clinic operationsMay assist with routine medical procedures, as appropriate to training, supervision and/or certificationCollects, verifies, records, and maintains data on clinical activity; prepares associated reports as requiredMaintains inventories of supplies, as required to support day-to-day unit clinical and administrative operationsAssists in maintaining the cleanliness and serviceability of clinic facilities and equipment; communicates any maintenance and repair needs to the full time staffPerforms miscellaneous job-related duties as assignedKnow when to call 911Qualifications:Must be at least 18 years of ageCurrently enrolled nursing, pre-med, or other health related studentsMust have/obtain advanced CPR certificationPrevious experience in working with individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities is preferredDemonstrated history of responsibility, dependability, and maturityMust be motivated to help serve others and appropriately process constructive criticismAbility to lift/transfer campers that may weigh 150 or more pounds, if neededRequired Skills:OrganizationAbility to multitaskFlexibilityAdaptability and problem solvingTime managementBehavioral de-escalationAbility to work independently AND as a team memberEffective communication with campers, volunteers, and staffClinical and ethical reasoningPay and Benefits:Starting at $175/week and up based on experience and tenure with Camp Blessing TexasFree room and board during while workingCreating professional networking with college students from across the CountryEligible to receive clinical rotation hoursAll successful candidates must be able to pass a background check and will be required to complete a staff training and orientation program Church Description Camp Blessing exists to offer help and hope to people of all abilities through Christ-centered camp experiences.
