First Southern Baptist Church (FSBC) is a Christ-centered, Bible-believing congregation. We are passionate about worship, discipleship, outreach, and community transformation. Our church family is diverse in age and background, united by our desire to grow in Christ and make His love known. Our church welcomes sincere seekers and is open and accepting of all those who follows Jesus’ teachings and actions. Theologically our church is not reformed (Calvinist) and our leadership is diverse.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Spirit-led, relational, and visionary Senior Pastor to shepherd our congregation, preach the Word of God faithfully, and provide leadership in spiritual direction, staff oversight, and outreach efforts. The ideal candidate models Christlike character, demonstrates strong communication skills, and is committed to equipping the saints for ministry.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead weekly preaching and teaching ministries with biblical depth and clarity.
• Provide spiritual oversight and pastoral care to the congregation.
• Lead and support church staff (Associate Pastor of Young Families & Church Secretary), deacons, and ministry leaders.
• Cast and cultivate vision for mission, discipleship, and community engagement.
• Oversee administration of ordinances and worship services.
• Conduct weddings, funerals, counseling, and visitation as needed.
• Encourage and develop volunteer leadership.
• Represent the church in community and denominational involvement.

Qualifications:

• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with biblical standards.
• A theological degree (M.Div. or equivalent preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of pastoral or ministry leadership experience.
• Strong preaching, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message (June 14,2000)’s doctrinal statement and mission.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff and lay leaders.

Compensation & Benefits

What We Believe...

God - there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is the creator of everything in the universe.

Jesus - in the deity of Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death on the cross for our redemption, bodily resurrection and ascension to heaven, His present ministry of intercession for believers, and His return to earth in power and glory.

The Holy Spirit - in the person and deity of the Holy Spirit. He performs the miracle of new birth in unbelievers, indwells and bestows gifts to every believer, and empowers people to live godly lives.

The Bible - the Bible is God's written revelation to man, and it is verbally inspired, authoritative, and without error.

Man - God created man and woman. Man and woman were alienated from God due to the free choice to sin against God thus bringing sin into the human race. Through God's grace through faith in Christ alone for salvation (made possible by his death and resurrection) one is reconciled with God. All people were created to exist eternally and will spend it either in the presence of God in Heaven or without His presence in Hell.

Salvation - Salvation is irrevocable. It is given and maintained by the grace of God and not through the works of, or lack thereof, the believer.

Baptism and Lord's Supper -Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus. The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby believers memorialize the death of Christ and anticipate His second coming. You do not have to be a member of FSBC Wellton to partake in the Lord's Supper, but you are asked to only partake if you align with the Christian belief of what the Lord's Supper means and what it means to be a true believer in Christ.
