Mobilization Equipping Coordinator
Port City Community Church
Position: Full Time, hourly non-exempt
Reports to: Director of Mobilization
Campus: Wilmington
Pay Range: $19.26-$21.98/hour
SUMMARY
This position works to shepherd Port City Community Church volunteers throughout our city, and those who desire to serve, with the aim of cultivating leaders who embody the core values of mobilization and inspire others towards the same. This person is responsible for knowing the people who are engaged with the work of Port City’s local partner organizations and leading them towards the embrace of curiosity, the practice of proximity, and the extension of hospitality by being present as they serve and creating opportunities for reflection after they serve.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Must be a follower of Jesus Christ and be/become an active participant of Port City Community Church
● Must demonstrate a passion for both personal and corporate discipleship
● Must possess training and development skills
● Must be highly relational
● Must possess a high internal motivation
● Must be detail oriented
● Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications as needed (preferred experience in Planning Center Online, Monday.com, and Google Suite)
● Must have flexibility in scheduling
● Must have reliable transportation
● Must be aware of current cultural issues and demonstrate cross-cultural sensitivity
● Must be highly ethical and able to process sensitive information confidentially
● Must demonstrate an acceptable balance of confidence and humility and must be willing to proactively address concerns in accordance with scripture and in alignment with Port City Community Church
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES // DISCIPLESHIP
● Inspire ownership and responsibility among volunteers who actively serve with local partner organizations so that they become champions for and connectors to the work of that organization
● Identify and cultivate leaders who embody the core values of mobilization (ie. curiosity, proximity, and hospitality) and who call out those values within others
● Shepherd Port City Community Church volunteers in how to imagine and offer their actual lived lives for the good of others and our community in ways beyond traditional service paradigms
● Encourage, support, and care for volunteers by regularly serving alongside them at local partner sites and offering various drop-in touch points
● Manage all aspects of Encounter the City (ie. an immersive learning tour of our city), such as scheduling local partner visits, leading the tour, developing co-facilitators, and participant follow up.
● Consistently foster a healthy and deepening relationship with local partner organizations in collaboration with the Director of Mobilization
● Coordinate various volunteer appreciation activities throughout the year in collaboration with the Mobilization Team
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES // CONNECTION
● Manage and connect with all new volunteer inquiries, such as those generated through Port City 101, web submissions, and other general inquiries
● Maintain up to date records of all Port City volunteers who serve in our city via a shared team database, as well as up to date records of all service opportunities associated with our local partner organizations via the Serve Your City website
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
● Participate in the planning and execution of church-wide events in collaboration with the Mobilization Team
● Assist with Port City 101, Espresso Bar leadership, and other Sunday morning mobilization activities in order to facilitate volunteer interaction
● Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Mobilization and general duties of employment at Port City Community Church
General Work Schedule:
● Full time hourly (40 hours, excluding lunch): typically, five days per week, eight hours per day excluding time taken for lunch. Typical working days for this role are Sunday through Thursday, though evening and weekend availability is required for various community functions (one to two Saturdays per month to be expected). Weekday hours should begin no later than 9am, and when evening or weekend work is required, weekday hours will be adjusted to compensate. Additional schedule adjustments may be required based on ministry and church events as required by the Director of Mobilization.
● All Port City Staff (regardless of role, position, or typical work schedule are required to work Easter Sunday and Christmas Eve.
Note: All full-time jobs are to be scheduled at 40 hours unless otherwise noted in the job description. Part time hours are to be scheduled to the amount of hours that have been budgeted for the position.
