Position Title: Assistant Youth Pastor
Reports To: Pastor of Youth Ministries
Salary: Based on experience
Hours: Part-time (approximately 20-25 hours per week)
Position Summary:
The Assistant Youth Pastor will support the Pastor of Youth Ministries by helping teach Sunday school, organizing weekly Bible studies, and assisting in the planning, execution, communication and teaching of youth group activities. This role is designed to potentially grow into a full-time position. It is ideal for a student pursuing a bachelor’s or masters’ degree in ministry or biblical studies degree.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching
- Assist the Pastor of Youth Ministries in developing a teaching schedule which shepherds students through biblical education and discipleship.
- Participate in the teaching and facilitation of youth group, Sunday school, and Bible study lessons.
2. Planning
- Assist in the planning, facilitating, and communication of multiple yearly special events and weekly youth group, Sunday school, and Bible studies.
3. Team Collaboration & Church-wide Communication
- Collaborate with the Pastor of Youth Ministries, volunteers, and parents to ensure smooth coordination of youth ministry events and activities.
- Communicate effectively with the youth ministry team, parents, and church staff to ensure unity and alignment of ministry efforts.
- Assist in promoting and communicating events to the church and wider community.
4. Youth Discipleship & Pastoral Care
- Set an example of Christ-like character by pursuing His standards for pastoral leadership outlined in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5.
- Develop relationships with youth and their families, offering mentorship, support, and pastoral care.
- Encourage Christ-centered spiritual growth, service, and leadership opportunities for youth to engage in.
- Work alongside the Pastor of Youth Ministries to provide consistent follow-up and accountability for youth.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrates a genuine love for Christ, His Church, His Word, and His mission.
- Either has or is pursuing a degree in Biblical Studies, Ministry, Theology, or a related field.
- Agrees to abide by The Chapel’s Statement of Faith.
- Experience working with youth in a ministry or educational setting.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Passion for youth discipleship and a heart for mentoring and leading young people.
- A desire and growing ability to teach, engage, and build relationships with youth from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Prior experience in youth ministry or teaching.
- Comfortable leading small groups, Bible studies, and large group teaching.
- Knowledge of youth culture and trends to engage youth effectively.
