Director of Music Ministries

Christ Church Anglican is an evangelical parish in the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina, a constituent member of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work


This is a full-time (40 hrs/week), exempt position reporting to the Rector.  Days and hours of work consist of Sunday services, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon and evening rehearsals, and office hours Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, including a weekly Tuesday staff meeting.

 

Key Responsibilities


·      Develop goals and plans for the music ministry in support of the Parish & Worship Visions.

·      Prepare and lead music for Sunday worship services, weddings and funerals, other special worship services (e.g. Christmas Eve and Holy Week), & other parish events and programs as assigned.

·      Lead and develop Adult Choir, Children's Choir, Handbell Ensemble, & Instrumental Ensemble (i.e. Praise Band).

·      Develop/maintain budgets and communication in support of the music ministries.

  

 Specific Duties


·      Choose music for all ensembles and congregational singing.

·      Oversee transportation of bells and keyboard temporary worship space and office rehearsal room.

·      Hire professional musicians as necessary for services including but not limited to Christmas Eve and Easter.

·      Maintain instruments, vestments, and equipment of the music ministry.

·      Maintain Ensembles’ physical and digital libraries.

·      Purchase and arrange new music to develop existing music ensembles.

·      Recruit musicians.

·      Oversee outreach, including but not limited to Christmas caroling, Children’s Choir recitals, National Day of Prayer service, joint Choir Festivals and Evensong services.

·      Develop, schedule and oversee East Cooper Concert Series.

·      Arrange for leadership during vacation absence.

·      Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Planning Center, ProPresenter, AV Systems, Song Select, and CCLI.

·      Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.

·      Ability to work both with a staff team and as a self-starter.

 

    Requirements

 

·      Bachelor’s degree in music; advanced degrees preferred.

·      A minimum of 3 years of professional experience as an organist/pianist and in conducting choirs and instrumental music ensembles

·      Willingness to ascribe to the Parish Statement of Faith.
