SENIOR PASTOR OVERVIEW

The Senior Pastor seeks to understand God’s vision for the church and establish appropriate strategies to achieve this vision in coordination with the elder team and staff. The Senior Pastor will lead and direct the preaching/teaching ministry while working with current staff in the planning and execution of weekly services and other programs.


The Senior Pastor should exhibit the following:

  • A deep love for Jesus and Scripture, demonstrated in word and in deed
  • A heart of humility and service, lived out in sacrificial love for the church family
  • Gracious leadership, which values the opinions and contributions of others as equal to one’s own
  • A caring spirit that acknowledges the needs of each member of the church family, and the community at large


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess, or be willing to seek, a Master's-level degree from a respected evangelical seminary.
  • Have experience in pastoral ministry, preferably in roles that involved teaching and organizational leadership.
  • Personal convictions aligned with the Hill Church statement of faith.
  • Pass a criminal background check.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning and leading Sunday services
  • Preaching 44 Sundays each year
  • Team collaboration; Leading regular staff meetings, Supporting key volunteers
  • Congregational leadership; building relationships, holding office hours, assisting with building upkeep (leading by example)
  • Pastoral counseling
  • Special events (weddings and funerals)


COMPENSATION

  • Minimum $65,000 annual salary
  • Health Insurance Contribution ($500/month)
  • Retirement Contribution ($2000/year)

We meet in an old Sears store in downtown Kewanee, Illinois. Kewanee is a diverse farming community (sounds strange, but it's true) tucked amongst the cornfields of northwestern Illinois.


We seek to love each other well, bring hope to our community, and spread the Gospel to unreached people groups around the world.
