Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Communications Director is responsible for leading, shaping, and executing internal and external communications for the church. This role provides strategic vision, creative leadership, and operational oversight to ensure that every communication — visual, written, digital, and spoken — clearly reflects the church’s mission, values, and voice. The director will also apply graphic design skills in the creation of materials to support the programs and operations of the church.


QUALIFICATIONS

· Character: The Communications Director must be a person of irreproachable character who is sound in faith and doctrine. They must be in full accord with the Pathway Statement of Faith and be willing to perform their duties in accordance with the Constitution and By-laws of the church.

· Leadership: Able to set a compelling vision based on the purposes of the church, applied to the specific ministry areas of responsibility.

· Management: Demonstrated ability to recruit, equip and lead ministry systems and volunteers.

· Knowledge: Demonstrated desire to be a life-long learner. Possesses significant knowledge and skills pertinent to the role, including excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency with design and media tools, and highly organized with attention to detail.

· Education: Bachelor’s degree and training in the areas of ministry responsibility.

· Experience: Previous work in church or ministry settings, with website, social media and email communications background.

· Followership: Team player who is able to take direction and is committed to the ministry of the church.


RESPONSIBILITIES

· Develop and maintain a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the church’s mission, vision, and ministry goals.

· Lead communication planning for sermon series, church-wide initiatives, and seasonal events, ensuring consistency of tone, voice, and visual identity in all communications.

· Provide copywriting, editing, and message clarity for accuracy, warmth, and accessibility.

· Provide creative direction for graphic design, video, photography, and written content.

· Serve as primary graphic designer.

· Collaborate with pastors on the creation of sermon series artwork, outlines and support materials, social media content, teaching slides, and promotional items.

· Direct the creation and production of weekly Pathway Notes for distribution in print and digital formats.

· Oversee the church app and website, ensuring clarity, usability, and up-to-date content.

· Manage social media strategy and output, including content rhythms and messaging across all platforms.

· Oversee email communications, push notifications, and digital announcements.

· Direct the design and creation of special projects (i.e. Advent Devotional and Annual Magazine).

· Oversee communication calendars, production schedules, and budgets for maximum effectiveness.
