Job Description

Role: Director of Worship

Midtown Church

Midtown Church, a 2021 revitalization work in Vancouver, B.C., is seeking a qualified, half-time candidate, for the role of Director of Worship. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated candidate to lead and coordinate our worship gatherings and events. The ideal candidate will foster a vibrant worship environment, inspire congregation participation, and support the spiritual growth of our church community. This leadership role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work with diverse groups of all ages.

Midtown launched in January, 2021 after being handed the former ministry location of Culloden Church, a faithful gospel ministry of 52 years, which closed in September, 2020. Midtown is a ministry committed to the mission of making Jesus known and averages about 300 or so people, including children, on a Sunday morning.

Midtown Church is reformed in soteriology, continuationist in pneumatology, missional in ecclesiology, and complementarian in polity.

For more information about Midtown please go to our WEBSITE.

Although job qualifications aren’t reserved for those who have worked in a church context before, or have a post secondary degree or above, priority will be given to those who bring formal Christian education and church/ministry experience. And yet, degrees or years of experience don’t necessarily qualify anyone for ministry and, therefore, all applicants will be considered.

Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, and lead engaging worship gatherings, including the Sunday liturgy, that align with the church’s vision and mission.

Recruit, train, and oversee worship team members, including musicians, singers, and technical staff.

Organize opportunities to create community, team building, spiritual growth, and development for the worship team.

Collaborate with the staff team to develop worship gatherings and events that meet the needs of the congregation.

Foster an environment that encourages participation from all age groups.

Provide mentorship and leadership to volunteer teams involved in the worship ministry.

Oversee special worship events such as holiday gatherings and community outreach initiatives.

Attend weekly staff meetings.

Oversee the worship budget.

Maintain worship supplies and equipment.

Ensure all worship and ministry activities are conducted with reverence, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.

Requirements:

Must be a baptized follower of Jesus Christ with your life clearly demonstrating a high level of spiritual maturity and passion for making Jesus known.

Must have a clear sense of God’s calling to ministry at Midtown with much passion for the calling.

Must have the ability to relate and work well with team members, whether staff or volunteers.

Must demonstrate a caring heart for others.

Must agree with Midtown’s mission, values, and statement of faith.

Must be an enthusiastic and creative team leader who is willing to work with current

staff and volunteers, with an eye to equipping others for ministry through ongoing training and discipleship.

Must have excellent communication skills to effectively engage with church members of all ages.

Must have the ability to inspire and motivate teams while fostering a collaborative worship environment.

Must have strong organizational skills with attention to detail in planning and organization.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary and benefits will be fair and assessed against like-minded ministry roles in Vancouver and the specific qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
