Supervisor: Accountable to the Joint Diaconate Board (JDB)

Job Title: Interim Pastor

Job Hours: Full time, flexible schedule according to church needs


(office hours conjointly determined by Interim Pastor and the JDB)


Salary/Benefits/Paid Time Off: Determined by the JDB


(contract terms specified in a written contract)


Job Requirements:

 Disciple of Jesus Christ, reflected in thoughts, words, and actions

 Ability to develop and maintain healthy relationships with family, church family, and community

 Ability to effectively communicate God's truth and grow mature disciples of Christ

 Ability to work independently and responsibly, with integrity and good stewardship

 At least two (2) years of formal Bible Studies required

 At least four (4) years of Christian ministry experience preferred

 ABC ordained minister preferred

 Willfully compliant with all ABC Dakotas covenants and codes

Job Responsibilities:

 The Pastor shall be the administrative and spiritual leader of the Church and a resource to the

congregation in the development of its ministry for Jesus Christ.

 The Pastor shall seek the counsel and assistance of fellow staff members, appropriate officers,

and/or board and committee members, in developing, formulating and promoting the plans and

projects of the Church.

 Ministry duties listed below are "as directed by the JDB", and in congruence with the number of

job hours stated in the employment contract. Funerals, weddings and other occasional ministry

needs will be compensated according to terms of the contract.


Sunday Morning Worship:

 Plan and Moderate entire Service

 Preach Biblical Sermons

 Administer Communion (once per month)

 Lead or Delegate Music including Selecting Music

 Lead or Delegate Leadership of Children’s Sermons


Pastoral Care:

 Maintain Fellowship with entire Church Family

 Perform Visitation (Hospital, Shut-In, In-Home, etc.)

 Perform Counseling (General, Pre-Marital, Marital, Spiritual, etc.) or referrals as necessary

 Conduct Weddings

 Conduct Funerals

 Conduct Baptisms


Teaching:

 Conduct Wednesday Night Bible Study

 Lead or Delegate Leadership of Church’s American Baptist Youth (ABY) Program

 Conduct Discipleship Classes for new believers and/or new church members

 Disciple and Train Up Leaders within the Church


Administrative:

 Coordinate and Supervise the work of all Church Staff Members

 Oversee Church’s Daily Administrative Functions including Church Email Account (with church

secretaries), etc.

 Serve as Ex-Officio Member of Church Boards and CommiƩees

 Actively Participate in Budget Committee

 Actively Participate in Nominating Committee


Outreach:

 Continue to Strive for Unity in the Churches

 Lead and/or Cooperate in Evangelistic Efforts in the Community
