Annual salary of $62,500-$72,500, commensurate with experience, plus health insurance stipend/benefit, retirement contribution, and paid time off

Role Purpose

The Director of Next Gen Ministries provides gospel-centered leadership for Grace Life's ministry to middle and high school students, with oversight, direction, and leadership development for young adults and assigned outreach events. This is a people-and-discipleship role, not merely a programs-and-events role. The director teaches God's Word, develops leaders, partners with parents, and builds healthy, reproducible ministries.

Grace Life Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist congregation in Cypress, Texas, with an average weekly attendance of 350+ people. We practice meaningful membership, expositional preaching, life on life discipleship and a desire to raise up another generation of faithful Christian pastors and gospel workers. The church's ministry philosophy is closely aligned with 9Marks, Desiring God, and the Pillar Network.

Primary Areas of Oversight

Student Ministry

• Lead a Student Ministry that supports the ministry of the whole church by evangelizing students, grounding them in substantial biblical teaching, involving them in intergenerational discipleship, and preparing them for baptism, meaningful church membership, service, leadership, and lifelong faithfulness to Christ.
• Lead weekly ministry environments centered on faithful, substantial biblical teaching, discipleship, prayer, community, and evangelistic engagement.
• Build a clear pathway to reach students, connect them to the church, disciple them toward maturity, equip them to serve, and send them into lifelong faithfulness—because graduation from Student Ministry is not graduation from church.
• Provide relational discipleship and pastoral care, and equip parents for the spiritual formation of their students.
• Recruit, train, and care for adult volunteers; develop student leaders; equip leaders to serve independently; and encourage potential pastors, missionaries, and church planters through missions, internships, and ministry training.
• Plan camps, retreats, missions, service projects, and other relationship-building activities.
• Build relationships with local schools and families, communicate clearly, welcome guests, and provide prompt follow-up.
• Collaborate with the Children's Ministry Coordinator, who reports to the Lead Pastor, to help fifth-grade students and their families transition well into Student Ministry.

Young Adult Ministry

• Provide oversight, direction, and leadership development for a Young Adult Ministry that fosters biblical community, discipleship, service, and meaningful church membership.
• Create consistent gatherings and relational opportunities suited to the ministry's size and needs.
• Develop young adult leaders for hospitality, discipleship, teaching, missions, and service.
• Provide appropriate pastoral care and connect young adults with the Lead Pastor, elders, or other church leaders when deeper care is needed.

Event Outreach

• Build and lead teams for the Easter Egg Hunt, Vacation Bible School, and other outreach events assigned by the Lead Pastor rather than personally executing every detail.
• Establish each event's purpose, audience, timeline, budget, volunteer structure, communication, and follow-up plan.
• Recruit and equip event leaders, delegate responsibility, and partner with the Children's Ministry Coordinator on birth-through-fifth-grade components.
• Evaluate events for gospel clarity, guest experience, volunteer health, follow-up, and alignment with Grace Life's mission.

Leadership and Administration

• Serve under the leadership of the Lead Pastor and elders, collaborating closely with staff and ministry leaders.
• Build sustainable ministries through clear systems, documented processes, healthy volunteer teams, and annual goals so the work is transferable and not dependent on one person.
• Maintain accurate calendars, rosters, attendance, volunteer schedules, budgets, and communications.
• Ensure compliance with Grace Life's child protection, safety, transportation, financial, and communication policies.
• Participate in staff meetings, planning, and ministry evaluation. Measure health by disciples growing, members formed, parents supported, leaders multiplied, people sent, outreach relationships developed, and sustainable systems—not simply programs executed.

Qualifications and Personal Character

• A born-again believer with a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a life consistent with biblical character.
• In agreement with Grace Life's Statement of Faith and willing to become an active member of Grace Life Baptist Church.
• A clear calling to serve students and young adults, with demonstrated ability to teach the Bible faithfully, build relationships, develop volunteers, and organize ministry.
• Self-motivated, dependable, emotionally mature, teachable, and able to receive direction and feedback.
• Two to five years of ministry leadership experience, particularly in student ministry, is preferred; ministry education or related training is also preferred.
• Complete and pass all background check and child protection policy requirements.

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD (Cy-Fair ISD), one of the largest school districts in Texas, offers extensive academic, fine arts, career and technical education and athletic opportunities.

Grace Life is a multi-ethnic, Christ-centered, gospel-driven church.

Multi-ethnic. Because Cypress is part of the larger Houston metro area, we reflect the diversity of our community. Many of our members are bilingual. It’s not uncommon to hear Spanish and even a couple other languages spoken in our lobby. We translate the second service message into Spanish (via headsets). Our membership consists of the following: 12% African-American, 10% Asian, 47% Anglo and 31% Latino.

Christ-centered. We practice consecutive expository preaching, alternating between the Old New Testaments, and believe that the ultimate aim of each passage is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We desire our preaching and worship to be Christ-centered. Keeping our hearts and minds focused on Christ helps maintain the unity of the body that the gospel creates between believers.

Gospel-driven. The gospel (not programs) drives our discipleship model of ministry. We use program but programs are only helpful to the extent that we are grounding believers into the Gospel.

We practice meaningful membership. Grace Life is elder-led, deacon-served and congregationally-governed.
