Help young children grow in faith and learning. First Baptist Church Americus Preschool is seeking a Christ-centered, nurturing, and dependable Preschool Lead Teacher to provide classroom leadership, age-appropriate instruction, and attentive care in a safe and engaging environment. This full-time, salaried position follows the preschool’s operating schedule, with additional time as needed for preparation, meetings, family communication, special events, and occasional evening programs.

About the Role

The Preschool Lead Teacher serves within the church’s preschool ministry under the supervision of the Preschool Director and in coordination with church leadership. This position provides Christ-centered classroom leadership, nurturing care, and age-appropriate instruction that support the spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of young children. The Lead Teacher partners with preschool staff, families, and church leadership to maintain a safe, orderly, welcoming, and engaging educational environment aligned with the mission and ministry priorities of First Baptist Church Americus.

Reports to: Preschool Director, in coordination with church leadership.

What You’ll Do

·       Lead classroom instruction and care: Provide age-appropriate instruction, supervision, and nurturing care; plan engaging lessons, activities, and routines; and maintain a safe, orderly classroom that encourages learning, positive behavior, and meaningful participation.

·       Coordinate classroom support: Work cooperatively with the Preschool Director, teachers, assistants, and church staff; provide day-to-day direction to assigned classroom support personnel within the authority delegated by the Preschool Director; participate in staff meetings and professional development; and support preparation, organization, transitions, and daily routines.

·       Support spiritual formation: Integrate biblical truths, Christian character, prayer, Bible lessons, chapel, and faith-based learning into daily instruction in age-appropriate ways while connecting the preschool to the broader ministry of the church.

·       Partner with families: Communicate positively, respectfully, and promptly with parents and guardians about classroom routines, student progress, behavior, and important preschool information.

·       Maintain compliance and safety: Follow applicable health, safety, supervision, licensing, church, and preschool requirements; maintain accurate attendance and incident records; and implement emergency-preparedness and child-supervision procedures consistently.

·       Communicate and administer professionally: Keep the Preschool Director informed about classroom needs, student concerns, curriculum progress, schedules, and operational matters; assist with preschool activities and events; and serve with grace, dependability, discretion, and sound judgment.

What We’re Looking For

·       Commitment to support the mission, values, ministry philosophy, and leadership of First Baptist Church Americus and to serve consistently with Southern Baptist beliefs and practices.

·       An associate’s degree in education or a related field; a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is preferred.

·       Knowledge of child development, classroom management, age-appropriate instructional practices, and preschool health and safety expectations.

·       Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and church leadership in a Christ-centered preschool environment.

·       Previous experience teaching or caring for young children in a preschool, early learning, or ministry setting is preferred.

·       Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon employment.

·       Successful completion of all required background and reference checks.

Position Details

This is a full-time, exempt salaried role that follows the preschool’s operating schedule, with additional time as needed for staff meetings, family communication, classroom preparation, special events, and occasional evening programs.

Salary: $25,000–$27,000 annually, determined in accordance with church policy and budgetary guidelines.

Health Insurance: Employer contribution toward the employee’s health insurance premium.

Paid Time Off: Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays in accordance with church policy.

Signing Bonus: A signing bonus may be available in accordance with church policy and budgetary guidelines.
