First and foremost, please know that our prayer for you is not centered on filling a position, but on your obedience to the Lord’s leading. Whether God’s calling ultimately leads you to Highlands or elsewhere, our desire is that you would walk faithfully in the place He has prepared for you. As a church, we are committed to seeking His direction and relying on the guidance of the Holy Spirit rather than our own understanding.

Highlands Community Church holds firmly to the belief that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for faith and life. We believe salvation is found through faith in Jesus Christ alone and affirm the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Prayer, worship, and life within Christian community are central to our walk, and we believe the church is called to love one another, serve faithfully, and share the hope of Christ both locally and beyond.

Our church was founded in 1991 as Cross Pointe Church by Pastor Bill Pitts and began as a Free Will Baptist congregation. Over time, the church adopted the name Highlands Community Church and transitioned to a non-denominational identity while maintaining strong roots in the Baptist tradition. This change reflected both our growth and our desire to reach the greater Lancaster community with the gospel.

Today, Highlands is a smaller but active congregation that values faithfulness, fellowship, and service. We maintain several ministries, including children’s ministry, Sunday School, worship, and plans for a women’s ministry, and we have members who are engaged in outreach and service within the local community. We are prayerfully seeking leadership that will shepherd, teach, and help guide our church as we continue to grow in Christ.

Highlands Community Church

Responsibilities

Provide spiritual leadership, biblical guidance, and pastoral care to the congregation. To be an example of the believer in word and deed.

Create and deliver biblically based weekly sermons during worship services, as well as on special occasions and events.

Coordinate with the Elders to make sure all church ministries have oversight and are provided for.

Take a bi-vocational position, with the hope and vision of transitioning to full-time pastoral leadership as the church grows and capacity allows.

Qualifications

Publicly confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, the only Savior, and the Lord of all.

Must meet the criteria of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

Hold to the authority, inspiration, and inerrancy of Scripture.

Must walk humbly as a representative of Christ and be able to correct and guide their brothers and sisters with a spirit of love.

Willingness to undergo a background check.

Preferences

5+ years of experience; does not have to be as a lead pastor.

Formal theological and biblical education.
