OVERVIEW

The Director of Connections is responsible for creating an environment that welcomes people into the church and helps those new to Wooddale get connected and into the discipleship pathway. This role is responsible for crafting and executing a consistent experience of world-class hospitality and an intentional guest follow-up strategy. The Director of Connections owns the lobby space and architects key connections experiences for services; pre/post service greeting, parking lot, children check-in, ushers, and communion. This role provides holistic leadership for all processes, volunteers, and staff that are part of the Connections teams.


 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Is a committed follower of Jesus and has a heart to see those who don’t yet know Jesus meet him and grow in their relationship with him
  • Ability to effectively connect people to the local church through memorable first impressions and intentional follow-up
  • Organized, a systems thinker for developing comprehensive and holistic processes
  • Proven ability to recruit, attract, develop, train, and sustain volunteers and volunteer structures
  • Excellent written and verbal communications capabilities; ability to speak with confidence and organized in front of large gatherings
  • Highly relational with the ability to lead volunteers through change and engage them in a vision for Connections at Wooddale
  • Familiarity with database systems and scheduling software programs such as FellowshipOne, Planning Center, and Text In Church
  • Understands multi-generational gatherings; ability to connect with multiple generations
  • Demonstrated character and skills required for vocational Christian ministry
  • Subscribe to and affirm the Statement of Faith and Covenant of Wooddale Church
  • Be a regular participant in public worship at Wooddale Church
  • Remain a member in good standing of Wooddale Church


 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Builds and implements a holistic and effective strategy of connecting guests into the discipleship path at Wooddale Church; this is measured by guests becoming regular attenders/members, joining and staying in a group, starting to serve and give at Wooddale
  • Responsible for creating and executing world-class hospitality for all attendees coming to campuses during services, key events and programming
  • Owns identifying guests, capturing information, guest follow-up, and connecting guests into Wooddale’s discipleship path
  • Implements strategy and systems to engage first time guests into fully engaged members
  • Recruits, develops, trains, motivates and retains volunteers
  • Works with the data team to understand data trends related to attendance, guests, and follow-up
  • Develops relationships with other ministry leaders to connect guests to opportunities for spiritual growth and volunteering


RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to Weekend Experience Pastor
  • Dotted line reporting relationship to the Discipleship Pastor
  • Supervises front desk receptionist (an on-call receptionists)
  • Leads and shepherds lay staff involved in Connections Ministry


 WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job operates in an office setting and will include using standard office equipment. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and reach with hands and arms. This jobs also requires the ability to lift 30 pounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


EXPECTED WORK HOURS & TRAVEL

  • Typical schedule includes weekday hours as well as consistent weekend responsibilities
  • Evening, weekend, and extended hours as holiday and other events require
  • Requires the ability to occasionally commute to and work from other campuses as needed
