FIRST METHODIST CHURCH OF HENDERSON JOB DESCRIPTION

Youth Director (Revised - 2023)

1. General Responsibility: Leading and loving students into the presence of Christ by coordinating, and directing the youth ministry of the church.
2. Administrative/Leadership Responsibilities
3. Coordinate, supervise and train adult volunteers
4. Develop and guide a Youth Leadership Team.
5. Coordinate youth fundraising activities
6. Develop and oversee budget for youth ministry.
7. Submit monthly page for church newsletter.
8. Connect with students and parents with all necessary communication tools.
9. Participate in weekly staff meetings and staff retreats.
10. Report to Church Council Meetings to report on the youth ministry.
11. Expected Office Hours
12. Monday: 8:00am – 12:00pm; 1:00pm – 4:00pm Tuesday: 8:00am – 12:00pm; 1:00pm – 4:00pm Wednesday: Flexible to plan evening Programming Thursday: 8:00am – 12:00pm; 1:00pm – 4:00pm Friday: OFF
13. Saturday: OFF
14. Sunday: Expected participation in both services and Sunday School
15. NOTE: Flex weekday office hours when meeting with youth or parents in the evenings. Communicate your occasional flex times with office staff.
16. (For example, if you know you are going to a youth’s sports game in the evening, flex your hours by leaving early or coming in late.)
17. Weekly Programming Responsibilities
18. Coordinate and plan Wednesday Night youth activities, devotionals, worship, meetings, programs, and dinner.
19. Plan and lead the Youth Sunday School Class
20. Plan and coordinate Confirmation Class (with Senior Pastor)

1. Worship Responsibilities
2. Plan and coordinate youth-led worship services at FMC.
3. 
   
4. Serve as advisor to Youth Praise Team
5. Seasonal Program Responsibilities – Provide opportunities for service and fun.
6. Community Service Projects
7. Coordinate with the Henderson Youth Minister Alliance for community events.
8. (This might include: Disciple Now, See You At The Pole, Summer Events, etc.)
9. Pastoral Responsibilities
10. Counsel youth about personal/spiritual concerns
11. Counsel adult counselors, teachers, and volunteers about youth needs
12. Attend school events and activities (football, basketball, baseball, volleyball) on
13. regular basis (Supplement office hours for these events.)
14. Meet with youth individually to establish personal relationships
15. Missions Responsibilities
16. Schedule, plan, and coordinate a yearly mission trip.
17. Plan and coordinate other community outreach throughout the year.
18. Facilities Responsibilities
19. Coordinate and oversee upkeep of Youth Center.
20. Coordinate and oversee furnishings and décor, and upkeep of equipment and
21. furniture in Youth Center.
