Pastor to Children and Families

The Pastor to Children and Families will oversee all ministry to children from Birth through completed 5th Grade. This includes (but is not limited to) Children’s programming on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evening. The Children’s pastor will also oversee special events, outreach, camps, and VBS (or an equivalent). The position also requires that the Pastor to Children & Families function in a shepherding role to the entire church body with specific emphasis upon the families of the children under his oversight.

The position must be filled by an ordained male pastor who meets all the biblical qualifications of 1 Tim. 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. He must devise and implement a strategy to challenge and train parents to disciple their own children and raise them in the discipline and instruction of The Lord. He will work together with the Youth Pastor and Senior Pastor to devise a cohesive strategy for the spiritual development of our children from birth through high school graduation. As an associate pastor of the church, he will be expected to preach and teach in church wide public settings at the discretion of the Senior Pastor. 

Kirby Woods Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church. Applicant must become a member of Kirby Woods and affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. Job experience in the area of children’s ministry is preferred, as is seminary education. The compensation package will be discussed early in the process after a resume is sent and candidate is initially evaluated. The Senior Pastor will be the direct contact for the hiring process, and will work with the church personnel committee in finalizing the hire of the new position. Kirby Woods Baptist Church is located in Memphis, TN near the border of East Memphis and Germantown. We are a biblically faithful and strong church with a heart for missions. Our current Sunday morning worship attendance hovers between 250-300. Our current nursery average attendance (birth through PreK) is 21. Our current children’s average (K-5) is 30. Children and Family ministry will be a significant mission for us in the next stage of our growth as a church. The church was founded in the 1980s and is currently debt-free, with a senior pastor who is currently in the 2nd year of his tenure. It is an exciting time at Kirby Woods as our young families and children are the fastest growing demographic in our church. The new Children and Families Pastor will have the joy and responsibility of building a new ministry and forging a new vision with the Senior Pastor as this area continues to grow, Lord willing.
