Position Title: Elementary Director
Reports to: Associate Pastor
FLSA Classification: Full-time Salaried with Benefits (40 Hours), Exempt
Work Week: Sunday–Thursday
(In-Person) Expected Start Date: April 2025
SUMMARY
Church on Morgan is excited to hire an Elementary Director to lead our growing elementary aged ministry (Kindergarten–5th Grade). In keeping with the vision and values of our church, this ministry will be known for its commitment to honesty, curiosity, and joy, with the arts serving as a key pathway for experiencing the beauty of God together. Elementary programming, like that of our adults, youth, and preschool ministries, is rooted in the traditions of the Church while expressed in imaginative, embodied, and developmentally appropriate ways. We seek to cultivate an inclusive community where children of many personalities, learning styles, and family backgrounds experience belonging and spiritual formation. The Elementary Director provides vision, leadership, and pastoral oversight for this ministry — equipping volunteers, partnering with families, and creating environments where children encounter God, build relationships, and grow within the life of the church.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ministry Vision, Formation & Sunday Experience
• Provide direction for elementary ministry in alignment with Church on Morgan’s vision and in collaboration with Preschool and YTH ministries.
• Shape and oversee weekly Sunday elementary environments as the primary gathering space where children experience worship, community, creativity, and spiritual formation.
• Design and implement curriculum rooted in the church calendar and the rhythms of worship (gather, word, response, table, sending), using storytelling, creativity, and handson learning to help kids experience faith in meaningful, age-appropriate ways.
• Ensure classrooms and ministry environments reflect care, creativity, beauty, and excellence consistent with Church on Morgan’s culture and aesthetic.
• Foster increasingly inclusive environments that support children of varying abilities, personalities, and learning needs.

• Identify, mentor, and develop emerging leaders within the volunteer team.
Family Partnership & Pastoral Care
• Cultivate enthusiasm and trust among families through regular communication and intentional partnership with parents and caregivers.
• Offer pastoral presence and care to children and families in collaboration with pastoral staff, including hospital visitation and home visits when appropriate.
• Provide resources and encouragement that support faith formation beyond Sunday mornings.
Church Integration & Worship Participation
• Integrate elementary-aged children into the life of the larger church through ageappropriate participation in worship and seasonal events, including Advent at the Farm, Fat Tuesday, Pentecost Picnic, Animal Blessing, Homecoming, and others.
• Develop and lead opportunities for children to serve in worship, including building and coordinating an acolyte ministry. Events & Seasonal Experiences
• Plan and oversee major elementary ministry experiences throughout the year, including Summer Camp and the Christmas Play.
• Develop seasonal formation opportunities aligned with the rhythms of the church calendar.
• Collaborate with staff teams to ensure alignment with broader church rhythms and initiatives.

• Manage administrative and logistical systems of elementary ministry, including calendars, registrations, space coordination, and child check-in systems.
• Develop and oversee comprehensive Safe Sanctuaries policies specific to elementary ministry.
• Create and steward the elementary ministry budget responsibly.
• Maintain organized systems that support ministry sustainability and future growth.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
• A disciple of Jesus Christ with a vibrant and growing faith.
• Passionate about passing on the Church’s traditions with care, creativity, and joy.
• Excited by a staff culture marked by collaboration, imagination, and intentionality.
