Job Description

Pastor of Youth and Worship Ministries

(we are also happy to consider a part-time Youth Pastor position or part-time Worship Leader position if you only feel comfortable with one or the other)

 

Reports to:

Senior Pastor, Kevin Martin

 

Salary/Status:

Full-time; approximately 40 hours/week

$40,000 – 44,000 annually depending on education and experience

 

Qualifications:

1) Have a developing and maturing relationship with Jesus.

2) Speak and act both in truth and grace (walk like Jesus – I John 2:6); display the characteristics of a shepherd (I Timothy 3:1-7)

3) Have a passion to lead people in worshipping God.

4) Be a capable musician and able to lead a team of musicians, vocalists, and A/V volunteers.

5) Possess a strong understanding of worship and leadership.

6) Loves working with students; willing and able to teach and lead.

7) Enjoy working with people.

8) Enjoy challenging the status quo.

9) Willingness to become a member at WCC; agrees to our statement of faith.

10) Possesses a Bachelor’s degree in ministry or has related ministry experience and a strong knowledge of God’s Word.

11) Possess basic organization and communication skills.

Job Description

1) To work towards the goal that each 6-12 grade student coming to the Youth Ministry on a regular basis is loved, prayed for, and personally discipled.

2) To build and develop a disciple-making approach and culture in the youth ministry – to the point where students are passionate about their faith – their own personal relationship with Jesus, as well as praying for, investing in, and inviting their lost friends to church/youth ministry/relationship with Jesus.

3) To communicate with parents, leaders, and students in a clear and timely manner.

4) To provide for the safety and well-being of the students at every event.

5) To build and maintain the Youth Ministry Leadership Team for the purpose of delegating responsibilities, evaluating the ministry, making decisions and plans, and developing future leaders – both adults and students.

6) To cast a vision for the Youth Ministry grounded and based on the mission of the church (KNOW – LOVE – SHARE) and carry it out.

7) To organize and maintain a schedule of events, which should include elements of worship, prayer, Bible study, mission/service, and recreation.

8) To provide one-on-one discipleship and counseling as students need or are open to it.

9) Oversee and manage the Youth Ministry budget; write an annual report to the congregation; participate in periodic evaluations with the pastor.

10) Seek to develop as a Youth Pastor by reading books/articles, attending conferences, taking classes, etc.

11) Meet with the senior pastor regularly for the purpose of accountability, mentoring, and support.
