Worship and Creative Arts Pastor

Role Overview

The Worship and Creative Arts Pastor, working under the direction of the Lead Pastor, will be responsible to lead and develop the music, live production, and media ministries of Bethany, providing leadership to promote worship throughout the church and accomplish the mission and vision God has given to the Lead Pastor. 

Worship Leader

The Worship Pastor will be the primary worship leader in all Sunday services and any other services deemed necessary by the Lead Pastor. The Worship Pastor will work to develop worship leaders and worship teams from the congregation to lead in various services and will give oversight, even when not leading directly. The Worship Pastor will encourage those who have desire and ability in music, media, sound, and creative arts to use those talents in service to God and the church.

Choir

The Worship Pastor will be responsible for selecting music, rehearsing, and conducting the worship choir which sings in our Sunday morning services. He or she will also recruit choir members and conduct the choir for outreach services (i.e. our annual Singing Christmas Tree).

Productions and Special Events

The Worship Pastor will work with the Lead Pastor in the planning and execution of productions and special events. These will include Easter and Christmas outreach services, as well as any other special events throughout the year.

Sound Ministry

The Worship Pastor will give oversight to our sound ministry, working with our volunteer sound engineers to insure the recruitment and training of volunteers, sound coverage in all services and special events, recording of all Sunday and Wednesday services and their appropriate distribution, and the maintenance of all musical instruments and sound equipment. The lead sound engineer will report directly to the Worship Pastor.

Live Production Responsibilities

The Worship Pastor, in conjunction with our live media director, will be responsible for overseeing all elements of our live production, including lighting, media, and live streaming. The Worship Pastor will assist our media director in recruiting and training volunteers, the purchase of equipment, and the overall improvement of our live production.

Media Responsibilities

Our live media director and creative media director will report directly to the Worship Pastor. The Worship Pastor will be responsible for insuring the quality and improvement of all media elements, including video announcements, social media, graphics…

Pastoral Responsibilities

The Worship Pastor will take primary responsibility for the pastoral care of those in the Worship, Sound, and Media Ministries. The Worship Pastor will help lead the congregation to a deeper hunger for God and heart for worship and will assist in implementing the vision and strategies of the Lead Pastor in and through all aspects of the Worship Ministry.

Additional Responsibilities

·     Weekly Hospital Visitations

·     Assist in scheduling and coordinating events.

·     Assist in funerals as requested.

·     Participate in leading church services.

·     Assist in developing, organizing and giving leadership to the ministries within the church.

·     Submit regular ministry reports to the lead pastor.

Qualifications

• Must possess and model the qualities described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:7-9.
• Licensed or ordained with the Assemblies of God, or willing to pursue licensure.
• Exceptional musical talent, including vocals, instruments, music theory, and composition skills.
• Four-year college degree (or more) preferred with an emphasis in Worship, Music and Fine Arts or comparable experience.
• Able to lead worship from either piano or guitar.
• Experience leading worship in a variety of settings and musical styles.
• Experience directing or working with choirs is preferred.
• Experience with productions (church drama, theater…) is preferred.
• Able to communicate clearly and warmly with individuals, small groups, and large gatherings.
• Gifted in building and leading teams—able to recruit, encourage, and develop volunteers with a wide range of personalities, passions, and experience levels.
• Works well in a collaborative ministry environment and values being part of a team.
• Joyfully supports the mission of the church and the vision of the Lead Pastor.
• Approachable, relational, and able to connect well with people.
