Worship Leader

Full-Time Worship Minister or Leader  

Livonia, MI 

Berean Baptist Church is seeking a man to lead God’s people in proclaiming the glory of God through the beauty and creativity of musical expression during corporate worship. This worship leader will employ his God-given artistic gifts to encourage our 380-member body to cultivate and use their musical talents and gifts as a reflection of, and a response to, the glory of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We are an independent Calvinistic Baptist church that is congregationally governed and elder led. We strive to make disciples of Jesus Christ who love God and love people. The church seeks to hire a full-time worship leader who shares our mission and is personally motivated to see the gospel of Jesus Christ exalted among our local body and proclaimed throughout Livonia, Michigan and its surrounding communities. 

Full-Time Worship Minister or Leader Required Personal Qualifications: 

•        Maturity of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord 

•       Dedication to personal spiritual growth, integrity, and excellence 

•       Motivation to order the structure and content of corporate worship according to scriptural principles 

•       Devotion to the reading/study of Scripture coupled with the ability to teach 

•       Faithful prayer life and commitment to pray for the musical ministry and its participants

•       Eagerness to lead or help grow one or more additional critical ministries of Berean  

•       Agreement with the doctrine, mission, and values of Berean Baptist Church 

Full-Time Worship Minister or Leader Required Professional Qualifications: 

•        Bachelor’s degree with formal training in music or worship, or equivalent vocational experience 

•       Experience leading worship corporate worship in the local church  

•       A comfortable “stage presence” displaying both confidence and humility  

•       Discernment to ensure music ministry content aligns with sound biblical doctrine and a Christ-centered hermeneutic 

•       Ability to comfortably and competently sing and lead music across a wide range of styles including Christian classics (hymns) and contemporary music 

•       Skilled at cultivating musical excellence from among the talents and gifts of a local body 

•       Strong leadership skills, administrative abilities, self-motivation, and dependability

•       Demonstrated competence and discernment in communicating via traditional and modern modes (written, oral, social media, texting) 

•       Familiarity with sound technology including sound mixing and audio-visual presentation systems   

•       Capability in composing, arranging, writing, and sequencing music 

•       Skilled at playing musical instruments (beyond voice) 

•       Creativity to expand the impact of music across all ministries of the church  

•       Aptitude for selecting and introducing new worship music 

Full-Time Worship Minister or Leader Position Description: 

•        Music ministry effort is to take approximately 15 to 25 hours per week. Remainder of work week will be filled with other leadership responsibilities to be determined in collaboration.

•       Administer all aspects of worship services in collaboration with the Worship Service Council, elders, deacons, and other service participants  

•       Schedule and communicate with all service participants, budget for ministry operations, oversee choir ministry, coordinate with audio-visual and lighting technology personne

•       Lead music for regular Sunday worship services and all special services such as Good Friday, Christmas Eve, Missions Conferences 

•       Disciple and train potential worship leaders and worship team participants
