Job Description

Position: Youth City Director


Supervisor: Executive Pastor


The Youth Director is responsible for overseeing the discipleship process of our youth (middle

school through College). This includes developing and managing volunteer leaders, teaching,

planning, and programming geared towards transforming the youth to love, think and act like

Jesus.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance in creating content aligned to our mission, vision,
  • beliefs, and values and that are age-appropriate to help the youth mature through each
  • stage.
  • Lead and coordinate youth activities for grades 6 through 12. These include Sunday
  • services, small groups, mission trips, retreats, serving opportunities, and other special
  • events.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain volunteers, equipping them to lead and disciple the youth.
  • Teach students in an engaging & compelling way—helping them grow in their
  • understanding of God.
  • Grow the engagement and regular attendance of the youth in our weekly gathering.
  • Increase collaboration and participation from the other ministries by partnering with the
  • other ministry leaders to provide discipleship environments.
  • Work in partnership with parents and families to ensure alignment of discipleship
  • processes in the home and the church.
  • Plan and coordinate special events focused on our mission of transforming the youth to
  • love, think and act like Jesus.
  • Oversee and manage the youth ministry budget and database.

  • Contagiously committed to Christ.
  • A deep desire to grow in their relationship with God.
  • Experience working with the youth
  • Works well with the pastoral, staff, and volunteers. Honoring all those around them
  • Commitment to vision, mission, and values of The District Church
  • Ability to lead diverse families and motivate them
  • Ability to recruit, retain and train volunteers.
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with the youth, parents, staff, and congregation
  • Attentive and responsive to administrative details
  • Ability to show initiative and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment
  • Submission to The District Church Leadership Covenant
  • Serves and leads by example
