Shelterwood (Christian Residential Treatment Center for Struggling Teens)

Job Description

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Shelterwood Academy is a Christ-centered therapeutic boarding school for teens located on 220 wooded acres outside of Kansas City, MO. For 41 years, the organization has brought hope and restoration to families by helping teens overcome depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, technology addictions, substance abuse and other behavioral and mental health conditions. Each teen is supported by an interdisciplinary team of Christian men and women which include licensed therapists, certified addiction counselors, licensed teachers at our accredited on-campus high school, and around-the-clock mentors.

Mentors make a profound impact on the teens in their care. As they work with teens, Mentors lay groundwork for social, academic and spiritual growth of the students. Shelterwood Academy is not designed to simply create behavioral change, but to cultivate deep heart change and set students up to succeed in life.

The word "Shelterwood" describes a forestry technique in which older, stronger trees shelter and protect younger trees on the forest floor until they stand, grow and thrive on their own. In the same way, Shelterwood Academy Mentors offer struggling teens a safe, loving place to heal and flourish.
