Accompanist

Job Type: Part-Time +/- 4 hours/week; One hour of worship/week, possible rehearsals, and occasional special services will be required.

Salary: Up to $10,000 annually

General Summary: McGuire United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time piano player to accompany our Choir during our 10:30am worship service on Sundays. This position will also require weekly rehearsals on Wednesday evenings and rehearsal prior to worship on Sunday. The primary commitment of this person will be for Sunday worship and for special seasonal services such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week Services, and other special services throughout the year.

Additional services such as weddings and funerals are not included in this position, but can be contracted for additional compensation.

As a committed follower of Jesus, this person will partner with the Director of Music in leading people to glorify God and strengthen their faith through a variety of musical opportunities in the life of our congregation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accompany the Choir during Sunday worship – anthems, hymns, and special music

• Provide preludes, postludes, and other pieces of music during worship as needed

• Play all service music as needed

• Collaborate with the Director of Music and Senior Pastor to select music for Sunday services and all special services throughout the year

• Occasionally record videos/music for use during online worship (if needed)

Qualifications:

· Must be able to excellently play the piano in a worship setting

· Have relevant experience in congregational worship

· Be familiar with the liturgical elements of worship within the United Methodist Church

· Have a desire to work with members of the church with all levels of music abilities
