Director of NextGen Ministries
(11-2021)
Summary of Duties:
This position will provide leadership and direction for effective Mineral Springs middle school, high school, and young adult ministries.
Responsibilities include teaching that is consistent with traditional Wesleyan theology, program development, recruiting, training, and oversight of volunteer leaders with the goal of effective ministries, youth community outreach, and missions as well as the management of the NextGen Ministry budget.
Essential Functions of the Position
- Design, implement and continue to build upon existing student & young adult programs that integrate relationship building, worship, spiritual formation, and missional opportunities
- Collaborate with volunteers to develop opportunities for Next Gen Ministries
- Recruit, develop and train students and adult volunteers who wish to participate in the planning and execution of NextGen & churchwide ministries
- Collaborate with church staff & key lay leaders to integrate Next Gen Ministries into the overall life of the church
- Provide oversight & support for weekend and midweek programs to include Christian education and social time
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of the Next Gen Ministry budget
- Maintain adequate and appropriate communication with students, parents, and the church regarding Next Gen Ministries. Use all available means to communicate with the congregation and community, i.e.; website, social media, bulletin, monthly Pipeline, and all other avenues. Use technology effectively and appropriately

Performance Responsibilities
- Serves on Mineral Springs United Methodist Church staff with responsibility to NextGen Ministries
- Assist with setting goals, developing and maintaining budgets, recruiting & maintain well-trained volunteers to ensure successful & effective ministry for middle school students, high school students, and young adults
- Manages the Mineral Springs UMC Safe Sanctuary program for Next Gen Ministries. Ensures compliance with all Safe Sanctuary policies
- Fulfills requirements for youth as outlined in the Book of Discipline, paragraph 256.3
- Assist with Worship in relationship with Senior Pastor
Qualifications
- A devoted follower of Jesus Christ committed to Orthodox, traditional Wesleyan teaching
- A passion for walking alongside young persons in their faith journeys
- Visions for the growth of students’ faith & the growth of NextGen Ministries
- Bachelor’s degree desired; Religious studies or further theological education preferred
- Experience leading and/or working with student ministries
- Agree to a background check
Terms of Employment

- Full time 40-hour position
Supervision
- Reports to Senior Pastor
- Performance will be formally reviewed annually including a review of this job description
