Position Overview:
The Director of Adult Ministries is responsible for the overall welcoming and hospitality ministries of Trinity and making disciples of Jesus Christ by helping adults connect deeply with God and other Christians. This position invites and guides members of our congregation and others to small groups and promotes opportunities to get involved and serve as lay people with the church. Additionally, this position leads and oversees all welcoming, hospitality and guest connection ministries including supervising the Food Hospitality Coordinator, and Worship and Hospitality Assistant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recognize, invite, lead, educate, equip and coordinate lay persons who are called to help the congregation in adult ministries to fulfill our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world
- Supervise, schedule, mentor, lead and work alongside the adult ministries team
- Assist and guide leaders of small groups and adult Sunday school classes in selecting and obtaining curriculum that deepens discipleship and is a theological fit with Trinity and the United Methodist Church
- Manage adult ministries curriculum inventory
- Lead, coordinate and oversee guest connection process in conjunction with Worship and Hospitality Assistant
- Manage Trinity’s bookstore
- Collaborate with the communications team to create effective methods for increasing awareness and encouraging participation in our adult ministry’s opportunities (i.e. Trinity’s website, social media, signage, newsletters, and speaking engagements)
- Compile data and report team progress and updates to pastor(s)
- Set goals and deadlines for the adult ministries team
- Establish and oversee annual adult ministries budget
- Participate in weekly leadership team meetings and periodic staff retreats
- Recommend changes to policies or procedures to improve adult ministries and overall church operations
- Collaborate with Director of Facilities to schedule locations for adult ministries activities and events including; small groups, adult Sunday school classes, church-wide events and Wednesday night classes and all fellowship dinners and lunches
- Partner with the discipleship team to develop and implement a process of discipleship to fulfill our mission of making disciples for the transformation of the world
- Collaborate with youth and family, and children and family ministries for visioning, planning and implementing intergenerational events and classes
- Collaborate with staff parish to interview and hire new employees, conduct annual evaluations, and make recommendations on staffing issues within the adult ministries area
- Model Christian character as evidenced by a life of prayer, spiritual disciplines, weekly worship, tithing and participation in the life of Trinity

Education, Experience, and Certification Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Is a servant leader, able to listen and learn congregation and church needs and work collaboratively with others to implement and facilitate the spiritual growth of adults
- Exhibits strong leadership, problem-solving, self-starting and listening skills
- Able and willing to reach out and make connections and build lasting relationships
- Team player mentality, but able to work independently and be self-directed and self-disciplined
- Flexible, dedicated, dependable, energetic and personally motivated
- Has a solid biblical knowledge-base consistent with United Methodist theology and practice

Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree or certification in Christian Education preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Adult Ministries and/or Discipleship
- Experience with overseeing, selecting, preparing, and providing appropriate resources and curriculum
