Associate Pastor – Operations/Children and Youth

Job Description

Summary: Holding Jesus at the center of our community, the Associate Pastor (AP) will assist the Senior Pastor in the development, planning, and implementation of 2 key ministry areas: Operations, and Children/Youth ministry.  The AP will assist the Senior Pastor in overseeing the cohesive operation of the church.  This full-time position will work energetically to turn our vision into action.  The AP will liaise across the church community to encourage gifted individuals to actively participate in our community.

Reporting:  This position reports directly to the Senior Pastor. This position provides supervision to the Building Coordinator.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operations

-Process revenue and expenses, being the staff partner with the Finance Committee, coordinating expense coding in partnership with the accountant, and maintaining compliant files for our annual audit.

-Office Management, including internal and external church communications.

-Completing, filing, and renewal of all human resource documentation to assure compliance with applicable laws.

-Coordinate events to assure they are intentionally related to the growth and connection of the church body and are in line with the vision and mission.

-Procedures for scheduling building use, and ensuring implementation. 

-Ensure all safety plans are up to date, document leader training according to policy and procedures.

-Development and maintain facility and office systems for the smooth running of the organization. 


Kids’ Ministry and the Blaze

-Join the pastor in communicating the vision for children and youth ministry with the wider church, volunteers, children, and parents.

-Recruit, coordinate, and train teams of volunteers and volunteer leaders to plan for and implement programming to promote children's education for their spiritual development on Sundays and during other events, including the selection and implementation of age-appropriate curriculums.

-Create and plan a calendar of family and children’s ministry events and outings.

-Maintain a culture encourages children and youth to critically engage when discussing the Scriptures and applying biblical concepts in their daily lives.


Additional duties and responsibilities

-Attend regular meetings with the leadership team.

-Recruit and train members to work in and/or manage areas of oversight in operations, children and youth ministry, and Family Outreach.


Position requires an individual with the following:

  1. Detail oriented, with demonstrated ability to build and streamline organizational systems.
  2. Demonstrated ability to recruit, train volunteers to operate and manage ministries within a faith community.
  3. Experience with child safety guidelines within PA state regulations preferred. Experience with basic HR practices a plus.
  4. Ability to manage the day-to-day finances of the church to control spending, track expenditures, and report financial information to the church bookkeeper and treasurer/finance committee.
  5. A love for Jesus and a desire to deepen understanding of Jesus’ teachings and practices within a faith community. 
  6. A commitment to act and speak in ways that are direct and truthful, admit mistakes, desires accountability. Be reliable and responsible to complete work in a timely and consistent manner. Agrees with the core values of Jesus being the center of our faith community, and supports anti-racism and inclusion practices within our community.
  7. Ability to interact well with others; builds constructive relationships; demonstrates good 

communication skills; gives and receives candid feedback; is open to different viewpoints; shows respect for others; maintains appropriate boundaries.


Work Week:  This position is a full-time position. Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule with evening and weekend hours in order to support events and functions of Mosaic Community Church.

Wage: competitive salary with benefits 

Probationary Period: Three (3) months initial probation. After the probationary period, the individual will be evaluated annually.  This is an at-will position.
