About This Role

The primary role of the Associate Pastor of Families and Students is to introduce young people to Christ, disciple them in spiritual growth, and equip them to serve Christ. This role is responsible for planning, promoting, and coordinating volunteers and direction for all education and activities.

Primary Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Lead and organize effective programs for students that combine fellowship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and in evangelism

  • Shepherd all student ministry volunteers

  • Plan and execute services for students that are biblically accurate, culturally relevant, and

  • high-energy.

  • Integrate the mission and vision of FBC Pinetop into overall family ministry goals and

  • activities.

  • Be an active presence in our local high school with periodic visits engaging students.

  • Cast vision for, teach and plan retreats and camps with music, messages, games, and

  • activities that inspire students to grow in their walk with Christ.

  • Set annual goals for the family ministry that align with the overall mission, vision, and church-wide goals.

11. Develop and maintain annual budgets for all discipleship ministries.

12. Assist the Pastor as needed with the care of members and with other tasks he may delegate.

13. Oversee and train nursery and support staff. Research, select, and coordinate biblically-based, age-appropriate curriculum for Sunday Morning Bible Study, Vacation Bible School, and other learning/outreach events.

This position reports to the Senior Pastor.

This position works closely with a team of ministry volunteers and pastoral staff.

Personal Responsibilities

While not explicitly related to the job, everyone on staff at FBC Pinetop has some personal responsibilities.

  • Maintain God-ordained priorities in your life by putting Jesus Christ first, your spouse second, your children third, and the ministry fourth.

  • Be loyal to the vision and staff of FBC Pinetop and always protect the unity of the church.

  • Demonstrate a Christ-like attitude through interactions with congregation, staff, and

  • volunteers.

  • Invest and invite the lost to know Jesus and come to FBC Pinetop.

The ideal candidate for this position should

  • Be characterized by the Biblical description of a pastor in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

  • Have a well-developed theology and philosophy of family ministries, with

  • a fully cooperative, team player spirit.

  • Agree with the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message doctrinal statement.

  • Be equipped with strong interpersonal/relational skills and educational training consistent with and suited to accomplishing his tasks.

  • Be married, an exemplary family man who conducts himself ethically, morally, and spiritually consistent with the Word of God.

  • Have previous church experience required.

  • Have completed a bachelor’s degree (Seminary degree preferred or in progress)
