The Director of Youth Ministry will guide our youth program for grades 7-12 to increase their discipleship and equip them with practical faith for the real world. The Director is responsible for the overall vision, management, and growth of the ministry under the guidance of the Next Gen team. The Director oversees the recruitment, training, encouragement, accountability and supervision of youth ministry volunteers.
Director of Youth Ministry Responsibilities Include:
· Create an environment of Christ-like hospitality that welcomes all
· Provide overall strategic direction and year-round activity programming
· Manage curriculum for youth in grades 7-12
· Serve as a resource to parents and the wider community to nurture youth spiritual growth
· Lead Youth Ministry volunteers
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or higher educational degree is required
· At least 4 years of relevant experience in youth ministry
· Extensive experience teaching and/or public speaking
· Possess working knowledge of the stages of child and faith development
· Counseling skills a plus
Personal Characteristics:
· An articulated faith in Jesus Christ, sound Biblical knowledge with a reformed understanding, and intentional spiritual growth practices lived out in daily life and in serving the church
· Passion to see youth both currently at VPC and those not yet reached come to the fullness of faith in Jesus Christ
· Enthusiastically affirm and be guided by the mission, vision and core beliefs of VPC
· Good relational and interpersonal communication skills
· Takes responsibility for continuing spiritual growth
· Ability to agree to and sign the VPC Biblical Standards for Leadership
