About the Kennewick Baptist Church

Kennewick Baptist Church exists to exalt Jesus Christ for the glory of God and the good of our community.

We are not defined by our politics, our ethnicity, our music, or our demographics. Instead, we want to be known by our common confession of Jesus as both Savior and Lord. At KBC you will find individuals and families from a variety of backgrounds. We believe God is more than enough to draw us together as His people.

Our vision as a church is to exalt Jesus, see our community changed, and give God all the glory along the way. We seek to do that as we sing and pray together, serve and love one another, sacrifice and give to our community, and hear and apply God’s Word in our lives. As we seek to live out God’s Word He sends us into our neighborhood, our city, and the world to tell the good news of Jesus Christ.

Here's what matters most to us at Kennewick Baptist:

The Gospel

Nothing defines a Christian like the gospel of Jesus Christ. And we love the gospel at KBC! So just what is the gospel?

Gospel means ‘good news’, and the good news is that Jesus Christ “died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day…”(1 Cor. 15:3-4). The gospel is “the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…”(Rom. 1:16).

God created all things for His glory. Tragically, mankind has exchanged the glory of God for a lie and has fallen under the just condemnation of God. Yet, mercifully God has had a plan from before the ages began to rescue sinners from His wrath. God crushed His own Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross so that anyone who trusts in Christ may find forgiveness of sins and be restored to God. God raised Jesus from the dead so that those who believe in Christ may have the promise of eternal life.

This truly is good news! Our desire at KBC is to celebrate this good news together as we seek to live cross-centered lives in joy and obedience to our great God and Savior.

This isn’t just a list of theological truths, we believe it’s the grand storyline of all human history.

The Glory of God

Our thoughts about God are often too small. Even as believers we can fail to see the full magnificence of our great God. Our desire at KBC is to behold the glory of God, and be transformed by this great vision of Him (2 Cor. 3:18). We want to enjoy making much of God, not ourselves. As we do, we are filled with joy and are able to glorify Him with every fiber of our being (1 Cor. 10:31).

The Good of Our Community

The Church has been called to make disciples of all nations and teach them to observe everything God has commanded (Matt. 28:18-20). Our desire is to be a blessing to our community in numerous ways, especially by proclaiming the gospel so that others may believe and live.
