The Special Education Teacher is responsible for overseeing of and teaching academic courses to Shelterwood students, attending and participating in team meetings and training events, reviewing and interpreting IEPs and 504 Plans from sending school districts to share with the team, development, and implementation of Individual Academic Plans, ensuring modifications and accommodations are being implemented and providing feedback on resident's treatment goals as they manifest in the school setting.
In this role, you will report to the Principal. This is a full-time position.
Skills Needed:
Work Environment: Classroom environment. Some exposure to noise and crisis situations. Some outdoor activities possibly during temperature or weather extremes may exist.
Physical Demands: While performing this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees may need to pick up or move items over 50 pounds. Accommodations will be made on a case-by-case basis.
Job Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30a-4:00p. Additional hours may be required as needed by supervisor.
