• Minimum Master’s Degree from a recognized Southern Baptist Seminary (or Mid-America Seminary)
• Minimum 6 years’ experience as a Senior Pastor of a Southern Baptist church

RESPONSIBILITIES
Purpose Statement: The Senior Pastor is responsible for providing vision and leadership in fulfilling the mission of FBC Millington. He is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the biblical revelation, to engage in evangelism and pastoral care, and to provide leadership to the staff.
• Serve as primary spiritual leader in prayer, Bible study, worship, and missions
• Plan and provide leadership for the observance of church ordinances
• Lead the church in an effective evangelism and pastoral care ministry
• Provide leadership for effective visitation efforts for members and prospects
• Shape, proclaim, and support the mission and vision of First Baptist Church
• Provide leadership and supervision to the ministerial church staff
• Act as moderator for church business meetings
• Prepare and preach sermons from the whole counsel of the Bible
• Conduct pastoral counselling sessions, wedding ceremonies, and funerals
• Work with the deacons in coordinating comprehensive pastoral care ministry for the church and promoting unity and harmony within the church
• Serve as an advisor and non-voting member of all committees and teams involved in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the church’s ministry
• Maintain a good working relationship with associational, state, and national Southern Baptist entities
• Represent the church in civic matters

About Millington First Baptist Church
Millington First Baptist Church is located in a suburb of Memphis, and our 2,700+ resident membership is a mix of rural, suburban, and urban believers. We are a welcoming, encouraging, doctrinally conservative congregation with a blended worship style. FBC Millington affirms the Baptist Faith and Message statement as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000. It is our desire to fulfill the Great Commission in our community, nation, and world by imitating the work of Jesus who came to seek and to save the lost.
The organizational structure of FBC Millington is God-initiated, Pastor-led, Deacon-served, Committee-implemented, and Congregation-approved. We have 9 ministerial staff positions and 56 support staff members. Our 2020 annual budget is $2.7 million and as of August 2019 we are a debt-free church.
