Mechanicsburg Baptist Church Youth Pastor Position

Position Summary

The Youth Pastor provides leadership and direction for the middle school and high

school ministries (6-12th grade) of Mechanicsburg Baptist Church. This role is deeply

relational, focused on forming students in the way of Jesus through community,

Scripture, and service. The Youth Pastor partners closely with families, volunteers, and

the pastoral team to help young people to know, love, and follow Jesus in daily life.

Primary Responsibilities

◆ Provide visionary oversight and pastoral leadership to the middle school and

high school ministry of Mechanicsburg Baptist Church.

1. Define and provide pastoral care of the youth at Mechanicsburg Baptist Church,

helping them grow spiritually and live out their commitment to Christ and His mission.

2. Ensure the planning and coordination of youth events; Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly,

and Annually.

3. Manage the administrative and logistical needs of youth ministry budgets, safety,

registrations, and communication with integrity and attention to detail.

4. Partner with parents as primary disciplers in their child’s faith journey, and equip them

in their leadership at home.

5. Assist students in engaging Scripture and applying faith to everyday life.

◆ Support Students’ Spiritual Growth

1. Communicate regularly and effectively with students and families to share updates,

invite involvement, and offer resources and encouragement.

2. Equip and empower students to take leadership in teaching, serving, and guiding

their fellow peers.

3. Create safe, welcoming spaces for all students.

4. Listen, encourage, and guide students at various life stages and in diverse

circumstances.

5. Guide students in a growing understanding of their spiritual giftedness and

connecting them to opportunities to practice these gifts.

◆ Embody and nurture the vision of Mechanicsburg Baptist Church

1. Collaborate with the church staff and lay leaders to align youth programming with the

church’s broader mission and discipleship strategy.

2. Attend and engage in staff meetings.

3. Preach to the congregation at least once a quarter and/or as needed.

4. Involvement in all church events.

5. Alignment with the Statement of Faith & Church Constitution of Mechanicsburg

Baptist Church.

6. Lead the youth ministry independently while collaborating with staff, seeking help

when needed, and sharing strengths to support the church’s overall mission.

◆ Qualifications

1. A growing and mature relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated through humility,

integrity, and love for others.

2. Must align with 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

3. Build meaningful relationships with students through consistent presence, care, and

mentorship.

4. Model Christlike humility and authenticity.

5. Able to preach.

6. Experience in youth ministry, teaching, or discipleship (preferred).

Reports To

● Head Pastor

Hours and Compensation / Schedule and Hours

This is a part-time salaried position.

The role requires flexibility in schedule, including evenings, weekends, special events,

and week-long trips such as camps, conferences, or mission trips.

The Youth Pastor should be actively involved in the life of Mechanicsburg Baptist

Church, investing long-term in students, families, and the broader ministry. This also

includes attendance at Sunday and Wednesday night services.

This position reports directly to the Head Pastor and works collaboratively with the

church staff.

entertain students, but to equip them to follow Jesus faithfully, to cultivate gratitude,

serve humbly, and live out their faith in community.

Mechanicsburg Baptist Church is an independent Baptist church in small-town Ohio. We have a thriving ministry for all ages and have a regular attendance 120-150. We have 4 services a week and enjoy partnering with local ministries to be missionaries in our own community. We exist to help people find and follow Jesus.
