Minister of Worship

First Baptist Church of Copperas Cove is looking for a full-time Worship Minister to lead us in biblically-based worship and to develop the desire and skills for worship in all age groups. We are looking for someone with strong vocal leadership, the ability to lead worship with an instrument, and knowledge of how to lead a worship band. Responsibilities would also include media, communications, and other ministry and administrative duties fitting the gifts and experience of the candidate and the needs of the church.

Responsibilities include:

• Enlist, train, lead and care for worship team members for band, vocals, video projection, sound, and lighting.

• Work with the pastor and worship team to plan, prepare, and lead the regular worship gatherings of the church.

• Conduct periodic training and regular rehearsals for worship team members.

• Develop and oversee a Sunday morning and special event welcome team.

• Help develop and lead a newcomers orientation/membership ministry.

• Provide musical and technical support for special events and services as needed.

• Plan and lead special services of worship or other musical events.

• Work with youth and children’s ministry leaders to find and develop worship leaders for age-graded worship experiences within the church.

• Oversee the church’s communications through the website, social media, worship bulletins, and other appropriate means.

• Assist the pastor with the care of members, events, and administration.

First Baptist Cove is a long-established church, founded in 1885, with a great opportunity to reach people from all over our country and world for Christ. We are located on the west side of Fort Hood which is home to about 35,000 active-duty soldiers and their families. The population of Copperas Cove is also about 35,000 people. Due to the presence of the military, we have a large population of millennials and Gen Zs. Much of the rest of the population consists of retired soldiers, government employees, and school district employees.

We state our vision as "A multi-generational church reaching the next generations for Christ." We gear our major outreach efforts around the young families who populate our city. We currently have 300 to 375 people attending on an average Sunday morning. Our worship style is blended. We use a band and vocal team to lead. Our desire is to be contemporary while not abandoning all that is traditional.
