In this full-time position, the Worship and Student Pastor is responsible for leading worship for various church gatherings, developing a vibrant student ministry, and volunteer recruitment and development in both ministries. More than that and in partnership with the Lead Pastor, he will be responsible for the spiritual health of all of those he leads, being sure to disciple them with scripture, prayer, and sound doctrine.
- Bachelor’s degree in biblical studies/theology/ministry/worship.
- Experience and passion for worship and student ministry.
- Proficiency in vocals and either guitar or piano.
- Good judgment.
- Experience in Biblical conflict resolution (Matthew 18 & Ephesians 4:15).
- Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality in accordance with South Bay policy.
- Ability to work well under short deadlines, juggle multiple priorities, recognize and respond to urgent requests, and quickly adjust to changing priorities.
- Self-motivated, self-starter, and able to take a task or project through to completion.
- Excellent communicator. Must be able to articulate clearly both in spoken and written form.
- Strong relationally with the ability to oversee and lead multiple teams consisting of both staff and volunteers and work well in cooperation in each team.
- Ability to research, produce answers, and give clear direction
Qualifications—The ideal candidate for this role is:
- A committed and maturing follower of Christ as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: biblical studies/theology/ministry/worship.
- Experience and passion for worship and student ministry.
- Proficiency in vocals and either guitar or piano.

Some Specific Responsibilities in the Worship Ministry:
- Identify, recruit, and develop musicians, vocalists and leaders for worship, production, and other related ministries.
- Maintain worship team schedules (including rehearsal).
- Establish set-lists for all regular services and special events
- Maintain compliance with music and video copyright laws and licensing
- Write/Create/Produce songs for the local church (preferred, not required)
- Assures the worship team is staying true to Biblical principles, church doctrine, and Biblical standards for peaceful relationships.
Some Specific Responsibilities in Student Ministry:
- Cultivate a vibrant student ministry at South Bay for 6th-12th grade students.
- Organize regular meetings for building relationships, worship, and biblical teaching.
- Provide wise counsel for students who need direction and encouragement.
- Recruit and develop volunteers who will join alongside you in raising up young disciples of Christ.
- Help students to set an example as defined in 1 Timothy 4:12.
