Position Reports To: Senior Pastor
Job Classification: This position is a full-time position.
Purpose: This person will function as a pastoral team member to give support to Sardis Baptist Church and its mission to minister to both youth and children. This person will help provide vision, oversight, and direction to all aspects of both ministries, ranging from birth to high school. This person will serve as a pastor/shepherd for families and volunteers at Sardis and will implement a ministry that is consistent with the overall beliefs, mission, and vision of Sardis Baptist Church.
Qualifications:
Ø Must have a dynamic, passionate, and maturing walk with Jesus.
Ø Must have a passion to see families -- men, women, boys and girls -- transformed by the gospel and grow in their relationship with Christ.
Ø Must affirm the inspiration, inerrancy, infallibility, and full sufficiency of the Bible.
Ø Must agree with Sardis Baptist Church’s doctrine and beliefs
Ø Must have the ability to recruit, teach, and train volunteers.
Ø Must have good communication and organizational skills.
Ø Having formal theological education from a Southern Baptist school/seminary is preferred; master’s level seminary education is desired.
Ø Having 3-5 years ministry experience is preferred.
The Scope of the position includes:
Ø Expand ministry strategies that help parents and families in every stage of life.
Ø Oversee and implement child protection policies and training.
Ø Serve as a pastoral presence for our entire church.
Ø Provide direct leadership to our Youth and Children’s Sunday school ministry, which will include training of teachers, class structure, and providing oversight (along with the Senior Pastor) of literature.
Ø Lead, develop, encourage, and care for the Children and Youth volunteers.
Ø Attend weekly staff meetings.
Ø Help develop an overall assimilation process for visitors and new members.
Ø Be open to provide leadership in other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Ø Provide pastoral care (along with Senior Pastor), including hospital visits, prospects, and crisis situations (a full team effort is needed in times of crisis).
Ø Assist Pastoral staff and all members in times of need.
Ø Preach in the absence of the Pastor.

Ø Be able to establish credibility with parents and Church members.
Ø Is knowledgeable and up to date regarding the Christian and secular issues of the day and how they affect ministering to our families.
Ø Be a team player, who enjoys collaborative ministry and thrives in a team setting.
Ø Can bring fresh thinking to our strategies for adults, youth, and children.
Ø Abide by Sardis Baptist Church Constitution and Bylaws.
Ø Must submit to a criminal background check.
Ø Must complete security training for children.

We are an aging church, but one that desires to see the youth and children's ministries grow. Both ministries are in need of rebuilding and there is great opportunity for that to happen. Our area is growing so there is an open window.
